I have finally finished all the laundry, grocery shopping, bills, and looked at the pictures, so I have time to actually post something about the trip.

We had a great time.  The tour guide and tour group were all very nice, and everything went smoothly.  I have already posted the itinerary, so I am going to talk more about my own impressions.

We just finished our Teaching Company course on the History of Ancient Egypt.  This course was excellent, and I highly recommend it (but wait until it goes on sale to buy it).  The course ends up with Cleopatra, and the professor said to watch the movie with Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor because it was pretty historically accurate.  So last ( Read more... )

Just like the last few years, Thanksgiving was very quiet this year -- just the two of us.  It just doesn't make sense to travel over 1,000 miles to spend Thanksgiving with relatives, and all our friends seem to have other plans.  We like turkey and leftovers, so I cooked a turkey anyway.  I spend the afternoon recaulking the bathtub, so at least I ( Read more... )

Yesterday we went to the Metropolitan Museum in NYC to see the Egyptian collection.  Instead of taking the bus we decided to drive down to New Haven and take MetroNorth.  It is inconvenient to have to drive that far, but it is a little cheaper, and the trains run more often.  First we went to the stamp show.  I looked around a little.  One man had ( Read more... )
