Paupers is only having its turkey dinner on the 24th and 25th so it was today or never. (Yesterday had too much snow to go out.) The forecast Monday snow arrived last night and is supposed to return this evening. Braved the -8C/ damnably cold F weather to get this and that from Loblaws- except for the thing I really needed and hadn't noted on my list- oniy to find my snow shovel sitting placidly by the bins again when I came out. Last year I bought a pair of cherry coloured double thickness gloves. In the first cold snap of December I rousted them out of the bunker. Or rather, rousted it, because I could only find one. Mercury dropping in the mouth of the dying day. Should do a laundry and hang to dry in the heat of the furnace that I will bump up to a giddy 18C tonight. This is December Dead Days weather long before the Dead Days. Because of the postal strike there are no Christmas cards to look forward to, and because my weight refuses to drop in spite of daily bike machine usage, there are no Christmas treats either.
