Saw some very self-indulgent theatre tonight. Coupled with some lousy acting. Not swell. And yet the audience (full of the actor's friends) cheered and laughed and loved it. I'm thinking about going to church tomorrow morning. Maria (the character I'm currently rehearsing) is very religious. It's not a big part of the play (religion is only referred to in one line) but it's an experience I should explore to get to know her better.

I have a director! I saw Geoff after the show last night and he said he read the script and definitely wants to direct! Super excited. He's the perfect director for the show. Went and saw the preview performance of The Dining Room. It was really really good. Mike did an awesome job. And I think I found the other actress for my one-act show. Spent the evening redesigning my website (which is still not finished) and helping padreac with his college application. What I should have been doing was writing a letter of introduction. So I read the script... okay so I read MY parts of the script and skimmed the rest. I have 20 pages in Act One and then I'm gone the whole play and show up again in the last 10 minutes. So it's a smaller role than usual for me, but small only in the stage time sense. Definitely not in the stage presence sense. This will be a big character. But good ( Read more... )
