New Role

The director for the show I auditioned for on the weekend just called. I've been cast. As Maria. Not what I was expecting, but hey, I'm in a show again. This role may be more fun to play as it will be a challenge (the role I was being considered for would have been pretty simple, very close to home). I get to perfect an Italian accent. I've seen the character described as a Sophia Loren type. I can do that.
I figure it goes to the whole downside of versatility that I've hit before (most notably during casting for Dracula). Chloe could play role A, role B or role C. This other actress is good, but only for role A. And this other one can't do role C but would be good for role B. So Chloe gets cast as role C. Versatility and range, a blessing in my mind, but if there's one role you really want... That's why I'm sure some people audition strongly for one role and then play all the other roles the way they would play the one they want, so that they're definitely cast the way they want. Meh.
I get to do theatre again. :) First read on the 5th.
