So we (the lab techs) are getting more bench space at work! This is like the equivalent of getting a nicer desk/cubicle, but with the added bonus of less likelihood of chemicals dropping on your head as you crouch under working scientists to access your R&D inventory. Meant to post about the new apartment and the job and settling in, but kept procrastinating because I wanted to upload pictures, and I can't upload pictures until I take pictures, and I couldn't take pictures until I had a camera. Mistyped one number into the lithography recipe=maxed out the exposure lamp, made a job that normally takes ten minutes take 4 hours, requiring the maintanence team to take apart the machine and retrieve the wafer manually. The Fab Ops and Maintanence teams likely have both me and my trainer on their shit lists now. WAY TO START TODAY. -
Anathem--where has this book been all my life?

This book is an example of fantastically interesting and exhaustive worldbuilding, of rich descriptions of engineering, of detailed philosophy, and snippets of gut-punching wisdom.
