oh, believe me... i received many a complaint about our lack of sweet tea. though our brewed tea was really good, and we'd always bring sweeteners with it.

when I worked at the sea lion show at wonderland, I would stand next to a giant sign with all the show times on it

and people would keep asking "what time does the next show start?"
my personal favourite was "what time does the 2:30 show start?"

in florida, people would also ask "is this canada?" in the midst of the totem poles and lumber jacks. sometimes we'd just tell them it was france. i'd love to see the looks on those people's faces when they got to the actual "france" portion of the world showcase.

When I worked at Wonderland I got plenty of stupid questions but this was one of my favourites:

Customer: It says $9.99,on the tag
Me: We have 15% tax in Canada
Customer: well I'm American, so I don't think I should have to pay it.

Well, they should have bought it at the duty free store.

:O You worked at Epcot??? I loved Epcot!!! Except Canada was hilarious- nothing was really "Canadian"- I don't even think they had good Canadian beer. Pffffft. Japan was my fave :D

actually, while i worked there, they served moosehead draft, labbat blue and blue light, and also unibroue beers from quebec! the food was actually really good, and the chefs really tried to use canadian ingredients... canadian cheese, beef, p.e.i. mussels, etc.

and they had maple creme brulee and canadian club cake for dessert!

.... dammit, now i'm all hungry.

All I remember when I was there was Labatt Blue :( If I had've heard about the Quebec beer, I would have bought one. I didn't go to the restaurant (I went to Germany, mmmmmm) but all I saw were totem poles, grizzley bears and other hokey stuff. I suppose we don't really have an identity anyways, but it was really kitsch :P

I haven't tried Creme Brulee- What is actually in it?

creme brulee is basically a vanilla bean custard (mixed with maple syrup at the canada restaurant), and then it's caramelized on the surface before being served, so there's a hard surface of melted sugar on the top.

it's sooo good!

That first one sorta sounds like you were being sucky with the customer. Just because you get asked that question 100 times a day doesn't mean you can't take the time it takes to explain the difference. Calling her ignorant- absolutely uncalled for.

In the second case..I feel the customer. Most places i go don't have splenda and I search the tables for sweeteners before ordering iced tea.

the part that really bothers me about the dvd thing is that people just won't trust me when i tell them that both types will work. and on the rare occasion that i actually have told them why there was two different formats, they entirely don't understand, and are still completely confused.

not accepting the word of someone who has received education and training in the matter is, indeed, ignorant, in my opinion.

Or you could just escape it, ask them what kind of computer they have and say

USE THIS ONE

pointing at either one.

They don't know what kind of training you have. For all they know, you just sell the stuff. At least she asked.

if i just tell them to use one or the other, i'm perpetuating the ignorance. inevitably, they'll come in one day thinking that they can only use one type, and demand that they're right, because someone in the store told them.

our chain is known for the employee's product knowledge. our shirts say "ask an expert" on them.
