Just got off the phone with Mum, who is in Hong Kong for her 40th year secondary school reunion. On Saturday, they went to visit St Paul's (their secondary school). Some of these people she haven't seen for probably 40 years, she sounded really happy (more so than in a long time) and she said everyone talked a lot, about their experiences, where

You had a bad-ish experience with New Zealand, but I think if you've always wanted to see China and Europe, you should go. Was New Zealand a business trip of sorts? I think you might be able to relax better in China/Europe, with not much to worry about but your mother and yourself.
You should come to American and be my math tutor. ;)

No, the NZ trip was purely a personal holiday, like this one is going to be. I suppose this time I don't have to worry about how I was at work and going back to it. Since the ticket was already paid for, I will go to HK and China (to accompany Mum), but not sure about Europe.
I thought you don't take Maths anymore with the MTSU course? I was thinking about it (to go for TWH), but since I left work, with no income, that was crossed off.

I'm taking it again because my parents and my counselor want me to -- for the MTSU thing I need statistics, which is really hard to do without math under your belt, plus if I get a good grade, it'll overwrite one of the previous bad grades.

Sorry I thought you were joking. I did Business Stats when I was in Uni., having good notes is very important, but the actual mathematics wasn't too difficult... from wonky memory. I can dig up notes, try to learn again and talk with you on IM/phone, but not sure how much help I will be. *goes to dig for notes*
Apparently I did Introductory Econometrics, but I completely forgot what it was. Is it the more fundamental math or the stat that you have more trouble with? This is obvious, but usually it's easier to study with somebody, though it's not always possible to find someone... So yeah, here to help, and it gives me something to do rather than wasting time.

I really like that "photo essay" and film sounds really interesting. Children are so resourceful, but what that mother did was horrible. It sounds like a film I would enjoy. I haven't watched anything new in the past few weeks, but I might see March of the Penguins this evening. I'm glad that you've been able to go out and ride your bike. Aww, kangaroos! Hee! They make me smile. :D

Lately, I have been feeling very guilty about spending unecessarily. Bought some lego on ebay but felt very guilty about it. I backed out and was lucky to be let off. I did pick up a bargain (1/3 of RRP) and built a 4WD while I was watching the Tour de France last month.
If it wasn't to accompany Mum because she was going to travel alone, I wouldn't have considered it at all. One would think that I would be stirred into action under the circumstances, but ... I don't know why I am the way I am. :| Sorry about being so down, I just wanted to tell someone, that's all.
The music at the website gives a feel for what the film is like. If I manage to get it in HK, I will send you a copy too. Hope you enjoy going out and seeing the penguins. :) *hugs*

The 4WD looks very cool. Lego is so addictive. I just wish I had space to display everything I build.
The penguin movie was awesome. A few years ago, I saw an emperor penguin pictoral in National Geographic, and I've been fascinated with the birds ever since then. It isn't their cuteness so much as their ability to survive under such challenging circumstances.
*hugs* Enjoy your trip, Ken!

Do you have a lot of Lego? It would be great to see some of yours.
Glad you enjoyed the movie. We have the small Adele penguins down here not far from Melbourne (a bit more grey than black with those pictured), so I am a bit more partial to those.
Thanks again for helping me with my troubles! *hugs*
