Just got off the phone with Mum, who is in Hong Kong for her 40th year secondary school reunion. On Saturday, they went to visit St Paul's (their secondary school). Some of these people she haven't seen for probably 40 years, she sounded really happy (more so than in a long time) and she said everyone talked a lot, about their experiences, where ( Read more... )

Those are beautiful pictures. That film sounds pretty good, and actually like an AU Hanson fanfic I read the other day, hehe.

You had a bad-ish experience with New Zealand, but I think if you've always wanted to see China and Europe, you should go. Was New Zealand a business trip of sorts? I think you might be able to relax better in China/Europe, with not much to worry about but your mother and yourself.

You should come to American and be my math tutor. ;)

Were you refering to the movie pictures or the China pics? There are more pictures at the official website for the movie (there's a link).

No, the NZ trip was purely a personal holiday, like this one is going to be. I suppose this time I don't have to worry about how I was at work and going back to it. Since the ticket was already paid for, I will go to HK and China (to accompany Mum), but not sure about Europe.

I thought you don't take Maths anymore with the MTSU course? I was thinking about it (to go for TWH), but since I left work, with no income, that was crossed off.

China.

I'm taking it again because my parents and my counselor want me to -- for the MTSU thing I need statistics, which is really hard to do without math under your belt, plus if I get a good grade, it'll overwrite one of the previous bad grades.

Yeah, those China photos are great. Makes up a bit for not being able to go there. :)

Sorry I thought you were joking. I did Business Stats when I was in Uni., having good notes is very important, but the actual mathematics wasn't too difficult... from wonky memory. I can dig up notes, try to learn again and talk with you on IM/phone, but not sure how much help I will be. *goes to dig for notes*

Apparently I did Introductory Econometrics, but I completely forgot what it was. Is it the more fundamental math or the stat that you have more trouble with? This is obvious, but usually it's easier to study with somebody, though it's not always possible to find someone... So yeah, here to help, and it gives me something to do rather than wasting time.

I was joking about you being my tutor. ;)

The basics, I guess. Just what to do in each situation -- when something should be multiplied, when it should be divided, when you can't cross multiply and when you can....

Is this for matrix? or equations? *scratches head* Often it's done with the purpose to eliminate/isolate unknown(s) and/or get it into a form from which you can recognize or more easily solve... or maybe it's something else... looking at examples may be helpful?

This is another area we want to visit. It's very popular in the last few years, and with the schedule, we probably can't fit it in but the area is very beautiful.
