It was the Valentine's Dance and while, unlike some previous years, pollen wasn't in the air (yet), glitter certainly was. Gallon and gallons of it

Glitter. Yes, she had been told there would be glitter, but Lucille hadn't expected those quantities. She hoped it wouldn't stick to her new dress. It had cost more than she could afford, really, but she felt quite beautiful wearing it. She was used to long-sleeved dresses, so this one was rather brave.
The decor was interesting. At least there were no rats.

"Oh, wow. Lucille, that dress is beautiful!" That particular enthusiastic tone of voice was probably at least a little familiar to the other girl by now.
"You look so elegant!"
Which one probably couldn't say of Ringo, considering her own wardrobe. Which involved a new dress, just not one that most people would describe as "elegant".

Oh no. Lucille turned to face Ringo, the smile on her face not particularly genuine. She was about to return the compliment, naturally not very sincerely, when she saw what the other girl was wearing.

Most of the backdrops were also nautical in nature (and a few were naughtical, thanks, Isabela) and you could borrow some magnificent hats from the photographer.

It took a while for Lucille to realize that the glitter was edible, so at first she tried picking it off, looking displeased. Eventually she gave up, and found out that the effort had been wasted.

Some people were probably feeling awkward about having had warmer than usual feelings for people for the length of a very short date.
But Ezra just focused on the fact that he'd met new pretty people for the first time. So he looked perfectly relaxed as he wandered over to the food table, and Lucille. "Hello there."

Lucille did indeed blush a little, but apart from offering to kiss her -- which could have been caused by whatever had made her consider it a lovely idea -- he had been quite charming. Kissing her hand had made an impression.
Still, Lucille struggled to decide whether to be clear that he might have gotten completely the wrong impression about her, or whether to just make polite conversation.
"Good evening," she said. "What a pleasure to see you here." She went for polite conversation.

Eventually Lucille decided to find a corner and watch others enjoy themselves. Dancing in this time wasn't, it turned out, to her taste, and even if it had been there was no one she cared much to dance with.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaah.
A party for a lovey dovey holiday. Skaar was not going to stay here for long. But while he did, he was going to be in the shadowy corner, adding to the shadows.

And see, the edible glitter meant you didn't have to pick it off.
