During the afternoon, workers had built up a large firepit in the center of the park. Smaller ones were built a short distance away from it, just to make sure nobody froze during the festivities

Cara's leathers were more than warm enough to stand the cold, especially considering the prospect of fires, which frankly were the main thing drawing her down to the park, rather than spending the evening in the gym or her room.
Nathan's skinny frame was going to take a lot of layers to make him warm but he had a disguised flask in his pocket that he figured would more than help him warm up a little later.
For now, he had some cocoa in his hand and even if he felt like a fucking pansy, he had to admit that it was pretty fucking good.
Food and Drink! | NYE 2011endsthegameDecember 31 2011, 14:24:59 UTC
Set up along long buffet tables not too far from the main bonfire, there's plenty of food to choose from, hearty stuff to get you through the winter. There's also cocoa, and for the more enterprising among you, there's a section dedicated to raw food to cook above one of the fires.

If this place was gonna keep giving him free food, Alec was gonna make fun of Jace for being fat next time he saw him. He'd work it off in the salle this place apparently had later or something. Right now he was gonna eat to his heart's content.

Cara had found a fire on the edge of the festivities and was sitting with her back to it so her eyes stayed somewhat adjusted to the darkness beyond the light up areas.
Yeah, she was never going to be very good at either being social or faking it.

Ender had a small plate of food that he probably wouldn't finish, and with it, he settled down by the main bonfire. He didn't want to retreat too far from the crowds, but he wasn't inclined to dive in, either.
Skating | NYE 2011endsthegameDecember 31 2011, 14:26:48 UTC
The pond has frozen over! And one clever entrepreneur has rushed in to take advantage of it. You can rent skates here and go for a round on the pond, or brave it on your normal shoes...

Cara wasn't counting down, but she had also been standing off to the side. She wasn't exactly trying to creep up on Bruce, but she was making an effort to move silently.
It was her duty as a friend to keep him on his toes. Yep. Really. That.

"Kissing anyone at midnight, Cara?" Bruce asked. It was tough to sneak up on him. And once he realized that someone was, it was a matter of figuring out who could, would, and was at the party. Elementary from there.

Soon, he was taking to the ice, half-pretending he was at home.

At some point, he'd head over for food and drink. Right now, he was going to try and get a group together for a hockey game.

Maybe she had to fork over money for it, but Stephanie paid for the skates and hit the ice. She was all over this experience, wheeeeeeeeeeeeee.

They lined up near the bonfire and started to flip them in turn.
