From Town Hall to Tartarus, Sunday Evening

The people in charge now knew where the kidnapped people were being kept. A party had gathered and they were on their way to the depths of the Underworld to bring their people back, no matter what stood in their way.

For those who weren't at Town Hall but are coming along. (No gatecrashers)

"I still think we need pitchforks and torches," Deadpool commented to no one in particular.

"You really think that would help?" Yes, Murdock was seriously considering this.

"No, but it would be damn fun. I mean... come on! Angry mob here!"

The caverns were dimly lit by torches that lined the walls every few feet. A stray spirit would occasionally swoop through the tunnels on its way to the surface, but it paid no attention to the travellers. Most of the spirits were in Fandom now and they were calling to those few who remained. Soon they would all be together and free to roam the surface.

"Ooo! Spooky! Who wants to start the scaaaary stories?" Deadpool asked, pulling out a sword. "Tell the one about the guy with a hook for a hand!"

So these were the catacombs those two demons were talking about. They were nice...as far as really, really spooky caverns and tunnels went.

"Can't we tell the one about how everyone lived happily every after?"

"But how realistic is that?"

The Hole in the Wall ismyhairout June 22 2008, 12:30:24 UTC
As they rounded the corner that led to the thin barrier that separated Tartarus and Fandom, they were able to see the link between the two worlds pulsing, as if power was building along its perimeter. On the other side of the hole, they could see a dark staircase leading down.

"..." Deadpool was a fan of the ellipses right now. "Anyone feeling like they're in a Mcfarlane comic right now?"

A beat.

"Just me?"

Jo was struck by a thought as she stared at the hole. "Does this count for credit?"

Which was an excellent question.

Deadpool paused, thinking it over for a moment. "As long as you don't die, yes. We'll call it your practical exam."

Thankfully, the hole between worlds avoided the River Styx, leaving the team to follow the staircase to a forked path. One way clearly led to Hades Throne Room. The other path was unclear, but it led further down under the river to where their people were being kept.

A round board was the centerpiece of Hades' Throne Room and the surface of it was a map of Fandom with chess-like pieces in various strategic places. It was a cross between chess and battleship. There were two exits - the one they came through and another that led further into Tartarus and also to the catacombs. Andrew was unconscious near the throne, slumped in a heap from exhaustion and the draining effects of trying to widen the hole between Tartarus and Fandom.

Of course, he'd never seen the source material.

Fleeing to the Catacombs ismyhairout June 22 2008, 12:40:35 UTC
For those who weren't taking on Hades, or who had and were retreating, the path out of Hades' Throne Room was dark and confusing. There were plenty of twists and turns, but with the spirits in the pit of souls mostly gone, anyone following the sound of screams would find themselves closer and closer to the catacombs.

When they got too close, the demons on guard duty reared their ugly heads and attacked viciously.

As soon as the first person stepped up to face Hades, Jaina took off out of the throne room, following the sense of the people at first to tell her where to go. The closer she got, though, the more she didn't need to, and the screaming only made her move faster.

A demon launched itself at her back, claws out and teeth bared.

The instinct was to stop as soon as it hit her, but Jaina pitched herself forward a bit instead, bending low to try and use the momentum to flip it off of her.
