"I choose to block out most of the changes," Andrew admitted. "They pain my soul in ways I can't begin to describe."

"That's probably healthier than yelling at the TV every time I see it," John agreed. "But this change really takes away from his credibility as a badass pirate."

"Yeah," Andrew replied with a sigh, gazing dreamily at Hanno on the screen.

John gave Andrew a sideways look and teased, "And here I thought you'd dig the Duke Lucas type."

A Jeff peered into the common room.

Seeing Andrew, his head withdrew.

Then popped back in.

Space Battles. Weird bloke. Space Battles.

He padded over to the spot furthest away from Andrew and sat down. Some things, you just had to compromise your integrity for.

John looked amusedly at Jeff. "How's it going?"

"Oh, you know." Jeff made some weirdly nervous gestures with his head. "Going."

"At least there aren't any classes this week," John offered, wondering why Jeff was always so weird. "Though, people are probably going to be really crazy by Friday."

Jim wandered up and saw what was on TV. "I haven't seen this in a few years," he said. "What part is this?"

"Part four," John informed him. "That planet's about to explode with the new special effects."

"The goofy explosion ring thing?" Jim asked. "I'm no expert, but I don't think that would happen if you blew up a planet in reality."

"Doesn't seem likely," he agreed. "But I'm willing to suspend my disbelief for the sake of entertainment."

A tentacled monster hidden under a blanket slithered out into the common room in search of ice cream. One of the humans in his room had disappeared recently, taking most of the tasty clothes with her, and the other one had not remembered to bring ice cream often enough.

John stared at the blanket that seemed to have ventured into the common room on its own. Strange.

Berthold reached out a few tentacles and waved cheerfully, hoping the human would understand that meant: 'Hello, please give me ice cream.' Of course, humans weren't always that clever.

John did not understand the waving, never having met a ...whatever it was before. "Please tell me that's not my blanket."

Mel had slept through most of the morning and was going floor to floor in an effort to find her favorite flavor of Pop tart.

Having found it (frosted strawberry) she flopped down in one of the comfy chairs.

"What show is this?"

"This is none other than one of the greatest movies ever," John said geekily. "You know, Space Battles!"

"Uh-huh," Mel said not looking impressed. "What's wrong with the guy in black? He have asthma or something?"

"He's a burn victim," John said. "And amputee. That suit keeps him alive and walking."
