It was an exciting Monday afternoon in the common room. There was a Space Battles marathon on the movie channel and absolutely no classes to worry about

A tentacled monster hidden under a blanket slithered out into the common room in search of ice cream. One of the humans in his room had disappeared recently, taking most of the tasty clothes with her, and the other one had not remembered to bring ice cream often enough.

John stared at the blanket that seemed to have ventured into the common room on its own. Strange.

Berthold reached out a few tentacles and waved cheerfully, hoping the human would understand that meant: 'Hello, please give me ice cream.' Of course, humans weren't always that clever.

John did not understand the waving, never having met a ...whatever it was before. "Please tell me that's not my blanket."

Stupid human. Why would he need another blanket when he already had a perfect one of his own. Well, he could eat it, he supposed.

The human had funny hair. Perhaps if he pulled it his intelligence would improve. Berthold extended two tentacles in an attempt to try this theory.

"Hey! Watch the hair!" John yelled, batting at the offending tentacles that had gotten close to his hair.

Bad, noisy human. Berthold decided he was not worth the effort and slithered off.
