[Chupacabra campfire, Thursday Evening]

Donatello had a pencil, a notebook he usually reserved for sketching diagrams or writing down new project proposals, and enough boredom to be coming up with glitter-throwing test ideas. Not that he expected to use them himself (whether or not it worked on turtles as well as humans), but it was something to do while he didn't have a computer.

"Hey, man," Gavin said, taking an empty seat. "Keeping a journal?"

"Not so much a journal as just somewhere to keep all the randomthings I'm not sure I'll remember," Donnie said distractedly before taking a moment to think over what he'd said. "...Which does sound like a journal, doesn't it?"

He laughed and said, "It does. Does it help you to remember things?"

"I keep it mostly for ideas and plans, and write them out in enough detail that if I do forget, I won't come back to them later and wonder if I was insane at the time," he explained, grinning. "So, yeah, it definitely helps."

Karal, on his way back from caring for Trenor, sat down and smiled a greeting. "Good evening."

"Hey, Karal," Gavin said, smiling. "Good day?"

"Gavin, hello. It was an odd day," he replied, still disturbed over Ares' claim of godhood. "Very odd. And yours?"

"Odd?" He shrugged at Karal's question. "I didn't have a workshop today. So, I've just been around here."

Kou walked up to peer over Donatello's shoulder. "Hey there, hot turtle. What's the physics for?"

Jaina gave a wave to the cabinmate she hadn't met yet. "Hi."

Kou waved, grinning. "Hey. Are you in this cabin too?"

"I am," she said. "Hi. I'm Jaina."

Jaina just couldn't seem to stay indoors, could she? But indoors was boring when everyone was outside. "Project?" she asked.

Karal looked up and smiled at her. "Hello, Jaina. Did you enjoy your evening with Johnny?"

"I did," she said, smiling. "And he said you were very nice. Thank you for that."

He would have been surprised to be thanked, if not for the fact that he'd heard what some of his fellow cabin mates had said. "I'm glad. I'm certain they meant well," he said, gesturing around the fire. "And he seemed very nice, himself."

Charlie was wandering around the camp when she saw a couple familiar faces around the campfire. "Hey, Karal. Mikey." Then she blinked at Donnatello, and said, "Wait, you're not Mikey."

"Donnie," he agreed, nodding. He was getting used to being mistaken for his more outgoing brother. "Or Donatello, but Donnie's easier."

"Donnie. Hi, I'm Charlie. I met your brother on Monday." She smiled and settled in, looking curious. "Letter home?"

"Just writing out some notes," he said, smiling back. "Nice to meet you, Charlie. Do you have a class with him?"
