[Chupacabra campfire, Thursday Evening]

Donatello had a pencil, a notebook he usually reserved for sketching diagrams or writing down new project proposals, and enough boredom to be coming up with glitter-throwing test ideas. Not that he expected to use them himself (whether or not it worked on turtles as well as humans), but it was something to do while he didn't have a computer.

Charlie was wandering around the camp when she saw a couple familiar faces around the campfire. "Hey, Karal. Mikey." Then she blinked at Donnatello, and said, "Wait, you're not Mikey."

"Donnie," he agreed, nodding. He was getting used to being mistaken for his more outgoing brother. "Or Donatello, but Donnie's easier."

"Donnie. Hi, I'm Charlie. I met your brother on Monday." She smiled and settled in, looking curious. "Letter home?"

"Just writing out some notes," he said, smiling back. "Nice to meet you, Charlie. Do you have a class with him?"

"We're in Arts & Crafts I think. But I ran into him at Lunch on Monday." She nibbled on her cookie, and said, "I do that too, but mostly it turns into letters to people I know. So you guys are from New York City?"

"Yep! Which seems to surprise people, but can you think of a better city in America for us to hide out in?" He asked, amused.

After a little thought, she laughed and said, "No, I can't. Wow. So many places to hide, and half the time? People would be too busy to notice."

"Exactly!" He grinned brightly. "The few times we actually went above ground among people, it wasn't too hard to blend in - with trench coats and wide-brimmed hats, anyway."

"And now I'm wondering if we were in New York at the same time, and I just didn't see you," Charlie said, giggling. "You guys ever get to Central Park? That was my favorite, but I was seven, so it would be."

"Maybe," Donnie said, grinning. "Yeah, Central Park is a good place to go where no one will see you."

"I loved climbing on the rocks near the zoo. And watching the street musicians," Charlie remembered. "The next place we lived was a lot... quieter." She cocked her head, and asked, "So are you and your brothers enjoying Fandom?"

Donnie smiled, nodding. "New York is a great place, even with its faults. And, yeah, I think we are. Me and Mikey, anyway. I'm not entirely sure about Raph."

"Too many people?" Charlie guessed. "Or too weird?"

"I'm not sure," Donnie said with a sigh. "He's always been really touchy, and this is all new to us."

"I hope he gets used to it," Charlie said sympathetically. "I mean, I'm hoping people are kidding about *some* of the stuff here, or at least that we won't have any invasions for the summer. But it's really kind of cool so far."

"It's hard to tell what people are exaggerrating and what they're not," Donnie agreed. "I'm looking forward to the school year either way, though. It's kind of exciting."
