Reading up on the latest FAP threads, I saw that someone had just reread the Draco Trilogy and had remarked, "Someone has to tell somebody how bad that fanfiction is

You are entitled to like or dislike what you want. No one is asking you to love the DT. In fact, I respect that you didn't just say, "This fucking sucks, you are all asshats," because that's not productive or meaningful at all; that's just rude. So thanks for that.
My only complaint is this: You said that we (the DT fangirls) flame you or insult you if you don't like DT, yet you went on to do the same thing to us because we do like DT. I'd just appreciate it if you granted me the same respect you want for yourself. That's only fair, isn't it? Therefore, I will not consider you a fucking idiot for disliking DT if you don't consider me a fucking idiot for liking it. Agreed

I can tell I'm going to get a real informed opinion here.

I made a post on my journal about it. Public and open to viewing but it you don't like it, don't read it.
I'd just appreciate it if you granted me the same respect you want for yourself. That's only fair, isn't it?
Since when is life ever fair?

Well, I suppose that's what I get for trying to be civil.
"I made a post on my journal about it. Public and open to viewing but it you don't like it, don't read it."
Excuse me, you friended me and everyone else on Cassie's flist. You obviously wanted us to read this post, so don't give me that, "if you don't like it, don't read it," bullshit. You made the attack, and now I'm defending myself and my friends.
"All right. I'll consider you a fucking idiot for calling my livejournal entry a flame instead."
I didn't say it was a flame. I said that you claim we flame or insult you when you disagree with us. How does that mean that your LJ entry was a flame? I just think it was mildly insulting. It wasn't a flame until just now when you responded to me - disgregarding all manners and just being an all-around asshole.

After all, you need to defend yourself.

Step one: Learn to read. Step two: Read this journal's name. Step three: Clarification!
Then why the fuck do you care? Why? Why is it so important to you to just sit here and insult people?
I don't know. Why is what I'm doing so important to youIf you want to have an intellectual discussion about why you liked or disliked

For the most part, I agree with you. The DT is not fanlit; most people who've read it think of it as the HP fan equivalent of those really thick, trashy novels you used to find in the airport or in the supermarket. And there's nothing wrong with the DT being a B-list fic; as Cassie said here, "There's a place for silly in this world. There is a place for ridiculous epics full of swordfighting and pretty dresses and mopey heroes and time-traveling gay wizards who hate cucumber sandwiches. At the end of the day you can only write the kind of story that you would want to read yourself - and that's what I do, because essentially, that's the kind of story I loved when I was a kid and that was what I wanted to write. No, it isn't going to cure cancer or save the world or bring puppies back to life and I suppose it isn't "fanlit" O_O, and yes, a lot of it is ridiculous, but it's ridiculousness done with a lot of love and whether you want to believe it or not, a lot of love for the canon that inspired it. "
The DT is not fanlit; most people who've read it think of it as the HP fan equivalent of those really thick, trashy novels you used to find in the airport or in the supermarket.
And just how many people in the fandom actually read those ridiculous novels? How many more consider the authors to be god? How many of those authors stole lines from other books and got caught and let go with just a warning?
And there's nothing wrong with the DT being a B-list fic;
Never said there was.

Pity it isn't Harry Potter. The trilogy is filled with crap that's not remotely canon. Even without the canon influence, the plots are cheaply done, the characters are unrealistic and lack personalities, there is no actual plot, it's nauseatingly predictable, every bit of it is shallow and superficial. At the end

my finger is forever pressing down on the scroll key.
Ha ha ha ha. That is a great line.
As for the rest of it: Neither am I friends with Cassie nor do I dislike her, but I do think her fic would have been better without quotes from Buffy and I found the plot too sprawling. However, I think it is vastly more popular to bash Cassie in an act of self-aggrandizement than it is to bash her detractors.
Who are you anyway and why do you have me friended? I dislike popular fics and have nothing interesting to say about the state of the fandom.

I think her fic would have been better if it hadn't have been written.
However, I think it is vastly more popular to bash Cassie in an act of self-aggrandizement than it is to bash her detractors.
Is it? I've yet to see much bashing of her fic since those bashings occur behind friends-locked posts. Even if people hate her fic, they fear to admit it in fear of the hordes of those summer romance, trashy type, novel reading freaks. Cassie Claire is an easy target, I'll give you that. So I'll be moving onto other freaks and geeks of this revolting fandom now.
Who are you anyway and why do you have me friended?
I am the fandom_bitch. You seemed interesting. I don't discriminate.
I dislike popular fics and have nothing interesting to say about the state of the fandom.

Oh, ok. Just checking. I'm not big on personal vendettas. Provacative bitchiness, on the other hand, can be amusing.
You don't need to. You're not the one posting in this journal.
Ha ha ha ha. Ok, point taken.
Yes, I do think it's more of a trend to be anti-Cassie. It's like being anti-Danielle Steele. It doesn't seem original to me. What's the point of saying it? Sure, there are heaps of stupid fans who will defend anything (as well as intelligent fans), but being an intellectual snob without backing up your opinions is just as bad. Now, if you were more specific about what was poorly done in the trilogy, I'd respect your review, but this just sounds like you hate famous people.

Both churn out insipid writings that tell the same story over and over again. I can see the common thread.

I'm not anti-Cassie Claire. I'm anti-Trilogy. I'm also anti-shitty fics but that's a lost cause in most areas.
Sure, there are heaps of stupid fans who will defend anything (as well as intelligent fans), but being an intellectual snob without backing up your opinions is just as bad.
Giving a fuck about the Trilogy enough to say that people against it need to back up opinions on it is also just as bad.
The plot sucked. What sort of opinions can I state to back this up other than 'read it and tell me that it wasn't predictable'? Better yet, the Draco there isn't canon and is just a damn fluffball without a personality. You want back up? Look at all his lines. They seem to be based off a tv show. Need more back up? I find him bland and a stereotypical bad boy turned misunderstood horny teenager. Now, if

Oh look. Another fandom troll knocking Cassandra Claire and the Draco Trilogy.
Uh oh. I'm in for it now! It's the evil 'I don't care' comment here to feign utter indifference despite the fact that they're taking the time to reply to my post.
How original.
Unlike her fic.
Because there really isn't enough of that out there.
I'm sure that you're there to see that there isn't.
Your ideas and accusations are so sensational and thought provoking.
Aww. I bet you say that to all the trolls.
I'm sure you're really gonna start a revolution with this.
Yes. One with lots of bodies. Tons of bodies. And afterwards, we can have ourselves a big orgy.
Watch me yawn with anticipation for your next vitriol filled post.
I hope it will inspire another breathtaking comment as this one. I yearn for your superior wit and banter. I wonder if I can get the same outrage by reviewing another fanfiction. I didn't know that daring to hate the Trilogy was so out-dated!
You friended me with the intention of me (among others) seeing it, didn't you?
You tell me, O Great and Wise One!
I never claimed indifference; I was just expressing how unimpressed I was at your post.
I shall try harder next time to impress you, O Great and Wise One!
I like the Draco Trilogy and Cassandra Claire. You clearly don't and felt the need to friend everyone on her friends list and make it known that you didn't.
Brilliant deduction! How long did it take you to figure that out?
You are perfectly welcome to hate the Draco Trilogy if you want to, man.
Thanks, dude! Glad to have your permission.
No one is stopping you.
Oh yeah! Here's one for the history books! I'm sticking it to the Man!
The way you phrased your post seems as though you have a vendetta and you are just recycling the arguments people have used time and time again for hating the Draco Trilogy.
I thought I phrased it more creativily than others have in the past. Back to the ol' drawing board.
