First Entry

Reading up on the latest FAP threads, I saw that someone had just reread the Draco Trilogy and had remarked, "Someone has to tell somebody how bad that fanfiction is ( Read more... )

Well, I suppose that's what I get for trying to be civil.

"I made a post on my journal about it. Public and open to viewing but it you don't like it, don't read it."

Excuse me, you friended me and everyone else on Cassie's flist. You obviously wanted us to read this post, so don't give me that, "if you don't like it, don't read it," bullshit. You made the attack, and now I'm defending myself and my friends.

"All right. I'll consider you a fucking idiot for calling my livejournal entry a flame instead."

I didn't say it was a flame. I said that you claim we flame or insult you when you disagree with us. How does that mean that your LJ entry was a flame? I just think it was mildly insulting. It wasn't a flame until just now when you responded to me - disgregarding all manners and just being an all-around asshole.

"I respect my decision to post about the suckiness of a fanfiction. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean it sucks any less."

Then why the fuck do you care? Why? Why is it so important to you to just sit here and insult people? If you want to have an intellectual discussion about why you liked or disliked the fic, then fine, that's great. But why the hell are you wasting your time trying to hurt people? God, how obnoxious are you? How self-centered and bitter are you? "Hey, everyone, you are all the biggest fuckwads in the world! Haha! I am better than you now, see me shake my bootay in your face! Lookit me, lookit meee!"

Who the fuck do you think you are? You haven't written anything as long. You don't have as many fans. You don't even have anything else better to do on a Saturday night than to make fun of harmless people, and insult someone else's hard work. Who the fuck do you think you are, bitch, and where the fuck is your life?

"She didn't give her readers any respect when she plagiarized her fic and hoped that no one would notice. Nor did she think her readers were intelligent enough to not buy into her crap."

Oh no! You mean fan fiction is supposed to be original? DEAR GOD, I'VE BEEN LED ASTRAY! *crumbles*

"How long did it take your little pea-brain to figure this out?"

Aha ahaha ahahahahahaha! PROFOUND! Though, you know, I really prefer chickpeas. Although peas are green, which is a very fine color, they aren't really too tasty. So I'd like to request that I be upgraded to a chickpea-brain, because they just taste better.

"I'd rather spit on her, really."

So you are part camel! Or is it llama? Anyway, I suggest that you take up chewing tobacco. It may give you cancer, but it makes for a good spit or two.

"Because plagiarists and lousy writers deserve respect! I'm such a cow for thinking otherwise."

No no, remember? You're a camel. And yes, plagiarists and lousy writers deserve respect. At least, they deserve more respect than those people who give up their Saturday evenings to hide behin their computer screen as they insult people they don't know shit about. ;)

Cheers, bitch.

After all, you need to defend yourself.

I didn't say it was a flame. I said that you claim we flame or insult you when you disagree with us. How does that mean that your LJ entry was a flame?

And you claimed I flamed the trilogy lovers in your previous post. Or are you so bent out of shape right now that you're forgetting what you posted before?

It wasn't a flame until just now when you responded to me - disgregarding all manners and just being an all-around asshole.

Step one: Learn to read.
Step two: Read this journal's name.
Step three: Clarification!

Then why the fuck do you care? Why? Why is it so important to you to just sit here and insult people?

I don't know. Why is what I'm doing so important to you

If you want to have an intellectual discussion about why you liked or disliked the fic, then fine, that's great.

I reviewed the fic. Something so inane as the Draco Trilogy shouldn't inspire anything close to an intellectual discussion as it clearly wasn't written by an intellectual being.

But why the hell are you wasting your time trying to hurt people?

I'm not trying. This just comes naturally.

God, how obnoxious are you? How self-centered and bitter are you?

I grew up in a bitter home. I'm blaming it all on my bitter parents, my bitter cat, my bitter house on bitter lane, and my bitter sister.

Who the fuck do you think you are?

I'm sure you can tell me.

You haven't written anything as long. You don't have as many fans.

I also don't have as many braincells as you do. I seem to have lost them all after reading the Trilogy.

You don't even have anything else better to do on a Saturday night than to make fun of harmless people, and insult someone else's hard work. Who the fuck do you think you are, bitch, and where the fuck is your life?

How dare I reply to people's comments on my journal! I'm such an idiot.

So you are part camel! Or is it llama? Anyway, I suggest that you take up chewing tobacco. It may give you cancer, but it makes for a good spit or two.

That's right. I'm a camel. Even better, I'm a camel with a journal. Add some tobacco and I can be the camel guy!

No no, remember? You're a camel. And yes, plagiarists and lousy writers deserve respect. At least, they deserve more respect than those people who give up their Saturday evenings to hide behin their computer screen as they insult people they don't know shit about. ;)

I get the cute smilie face! I feel so special!

Cheers, bitch.

Right back at you.

Well aren't you special.

I would like to point out that you failed to defend the one problem you seem to have with DT - the fact that it's unorigial - and only insulted me further. Dude, you suck at this arguing thing. You suck hard.

Lucky for me I have you to show me how it's done. How about you tell me what you actually liked about the fanfic in question? Or will you just say everything like a typical brain-dead fangirl?

"Anyway, if you post a story online you have to accept that people may very well express their opinions on it. There's no ruling that says they have to be nice...

But she didn't just express her opinions on the DT; she insulted Cassie and all of her fans. None of us really care if you don't like DT because everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. But you have to be civil about it, or else you start hurting people. That is not voicing an opinion, that is just mean.

"...especially when they're posting in a private journal."

I'd agree with you if she hadn't made a point of friending all of us. She made sure that we'd pay attention to her.

"And who cares how many 'fans' anyone has? That doesn't necessarily mean that they're a good author, by any stretch of the imagination."

You are right. Deffinitely right. I just think that fandom_bitch is a little jealous of Cassie because she has so many fans. That's the only point I was trying to make. You are right, though. The quality of a fic is not determined by the number of fangirls attached to it.

That's right. We have to be civil to Cassie Claire and all of her fans! They deserve our respect! It's hard work being a plagiarist and a glory hog! We need to respect poor diligent Cassie Claire!

I'd agree with you if she hadn't made a point of friending all of us. She made sure that we'd pay attention to her.

I didn't force you to read this. I didn't force you to comment either. You made it a point to make sure that everyone would respect Cassie Claire and her fans!

Rats. I've been found out. If only I could write a simple-minded fanfic that makes a Gary Stu out of a canon character. Then I could have the respect that Cassie Claire deserves!

Sorry, I deleted the other one because I'd accidentally replied to the wrong post but you must have beaten me to it.

I'm not saying that the post wasn't mean. It was mean. But what I'm saying is that people are allowed to be mean on the Internet whether we like it or not. You don't 'have to be civil'. Maybe the world would be a better place if you did, but you don't.

And I didn't say that I personally didn't like the fic - I said that I'd never read it.

I recognise your point about the 'friending'. I thought that this user had friended people she intended to talk about rather than specifically targeting Cassie Claire fans. Maybe fandom_bitch is jealous. But even so, my point is that leaping in to defend Cassie only adds credibility to what this user is saying. I just looked at Cassie's 'friends of' list and she's got more than two thousand people on it. If all those people like her what does it matter if this one person is 'being mean'?

I'm not justifying what fandom_bitch has posted. fandom_bitch is almost certainly just some jealous moron intent on stirring up as much drama as possible in order to justify her existance. But users like this make posts like this because of reactions like yours, and if you get upset about it then all you're doing is encouraging them.

I do not see how you equate being friended with the person doing so making a bid to be noticed.

I used to have Aja's journal on my own friends list (I took it off because I got sick of BNF bitch-fights she got into), I did not expect her to friend me back.

I never expect people I have on my friends list to friend me back. It's nice if they do but not madatory.

Friending someone is what you do if you wish to observe their journal posts, that does not mean they would be interested in reading your own.

Now I cannot speak for fandom_bitch, (s)he may have friended all those people with the perpose of luring them to friend hir back so they could be slapped in the face with hir uncomplementary review of a popular fic but I can elaborate my own opinions on how one functions on Live Journal.

I've never read this fic and I'm not really very familiar with the author or anything else that she's written. But if she's such a lovely person and the fic 'speaks to you' then why do you feel the need to wade in and defend her? I'm sure she's quite capable of speaking up for herself, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if she's chosen not to dignify this with a response.

Posts like this often generate more hits for the fic in question when everyone goes to see what the fuss is about - surely if fandom_bitch is being 'unfair' then all these extra readers will join the Cassie Claire Fan Club and you'll have even more people to worship this fic/author with? fandom_bitch is just one person in a very, very large fandom, after all.

Anyway, if you post a story online you have to accept that people may very well express their opinions on it. There's no ruling that says they have to be nice, especially when they're posting in a private journal. This is what life is like. Look how many people slag off Christina Aguilera, to pick a rather random example. She's got an amazing voice and her album has been in the UK top 40 for months but that doesn't mean that everyone has to bow down and worship her. And if people are rude about her that doesn't mean that she doesn't work hard, or that she isn't talented.

And who cares how many 'fans' anyone has? That doesn't necessarily mean that they're a good author, by any stretch of the imagination. People don't have to write to be allowed to express an opinion on someone else's fic, nor do they have to be a 'BNF'. This fandom is insular enough already, thank you very much.

Stop acting like an eleven-year-old on the school playground and put your energy into something constructive instead.
