Kukaku had stepped off the train at the mention of fireworks. She carried with her her copy of Volume 16 of Bleach, and the book that Ned had made for her for Christmas. They were her two dearest possessions and she didn't want to leave them unattended.

Kukaku lifted her head as the fireworks began to rise into the sky. This was the first truly familiar thing she'd experienced since arriving here, and it sort of set her at ease. She wondered where they were being set off from. But it was best not to wander far and get lost. So she took a seat and just watched, murmuring things to herself, mostly figuring out how the fireworks were constructed as they were lit off.

She wondered if Ganju was lighting off a few at home to celebrate the New Year. It was something they always did. He wasn't dumb enough to use newer models that he didn't know how to work, she was sure. She just felt a little bad that she wasn't there to celebrate with him.

Approaching from behind, Molly looked at the woman. There was something off about her, reminding her of the times her friends stared off sadly when remembering the times they used to have with their families during the holidays. Sighing, she wondered about what she should say or do. There had to be something she could do. After all, that was her job as the 'cute kid' of the group. "I guess you like the fireworks, huh?"

Kukaku blinked, looking over her shoulder at the girl. Damn.. She'd been letting too many people sneak up on her lately. She'd chalk it up to unfamiliar surroundings. Once she'd adapted, it would stop happening.

"I'm a pyrotechnician. Fireworks are kind of my thing." She shrugged a bit. "These are a little inefficient though. Still, they're not bad visually."

Looking up, Molly said, "What a rip-off. We never got to do the countdown to New Year's or anything." She hoped that would help to get Kukaku's mind off things.

Sitting on the lowest step leading up to the train, Pepinot hugged his knees and watched, awestruck, at the fireworks in the sky. Having never seen anything like it before in his life, the boy was captivated, exclaiming under his breath at every other particularly bright or colorful explosion in the sky.

Because of the chilly air and the temperature in the train, he'd also brought out a blanket from his room, wrapped around his shoulders to keep the cold out.

Stepping down the small stairs that lead down to the grass, Asuka tried not to trip over her own sandals. Dressed in a traditional kimono that Tsuuma had bought her, she figured she might as well put on the appropriate Japanese garment for this holiday. "Stupid--!!" She lifted the robe just slightly, trying not to get dirt on it. Frowning, she wondered if anyone would approach her about her new clothes.

Tsuuma stepped off the train, fond of the idea of a little fresh air. She turned an ear, hearing someone else walking around and turned her head. She smiled. "Ah! Soryu-san!" She waved a little. "You look very nice this evening!"

Upon hearing another voice, she turned toward the source. Pushing some strands of hair out of her face, she looked at the catlady. "Thank you. This kimono you picked out for me is perfect. The colors contrast so nicely against my body."

"It looks very lovely on you." Tsuuma smiled and walked over. "I'm glad I was able to find one that suits you so nicely."

She flinched as several of the fireworks went off, her ears going back. It took a lot of her will power not to reach up and cover her ears. Why did they have to be so loud?

Having just finished polishing his new stones and setting them to take in moonlight on this lovely night, Rally stepped out of the room upon hearing the announcement.

He bundled up decently and made his way outside, finding a nice place to stand out in the field and watch the fireworks. This was certainly a welcome change to the usual routine, he thought.

Ben had been wandering about, more interested in the prospect of being outside the train than of the fireworks exploding in the sky. He had his hands stuffed into his pockets, looking down at the grass as he strolled along the field. Without noticing, he stepped on one of the stones Rally had set out. "What's this?" Picking it up, he looked at it, not noticing his friend nearby.

Dr. Horrible - or Billy, since he was in his civilian clothing - lay in the grass by the train, his hands folded over his chest lightly and staring up at the sky, watching the fireworks quietly. It was strange, he surmised, how long it'd been since he'd been away from his lab, his henchman, and everything. He was almost starting to get used to it all.

And a vacation wasn't all that bad, now that he thought about it. He'd just thought he'd have been with Penny by the end of the year. Well...That was what resolutions were for, weren't they? He shut his eyes and thought.

Tsuuma had been walking through the field, trying to find a good spot to enjoy the fireworks where she didn't really have to hear the noise. Unfortunately it wasn't working. There was no way she could watch the fireworks without facing toward them.

She blinked as she found Dr. Horrible, dressed casually, at her feet. She tilted her head slightly. "Oh! Hello Doctor... How are you?"

Opening one eye, Dr. Horrible stared up at Tsuuma, and gave her a tired smile.

"Oh..you know." He answered vaguely. "Enjoying the show?" His head glanced up at the fireworks, opening both eyes now to look up as a particularly bright and loud firework went off.

Tsuuma smiled a little, flinching as the boom traveled through the air. She brought her arms up to cover her ears, but lowered them as the sound faded before she could actually cover them.

"Ah..." She gave an awkward laugh. Not particularly. They're pretty, but the sound is bothering me a bit."
