Wow, this got WAY too long...... U___U*

Mar 02, 2012 01:41

OK, I guess this post's a long time coming..... 9_9
But where do I even start?
I want to basically talk about the current atmosphere of our fandom that I feel might be a bit stifling to some of us in terms of critiquing GACKT or anything related to GACKT. I feel like there's a trend in the fandom where people can't criticize anything he says or does ( Read more... )

"For guys, it feels nothing to them of cus."

No, let's not generalize. For instance, if my husband saw what G tweeted, he'd be SO utterly disgusted by them because he is a feminist. ^^

"But nowadays he has been a little..weird?"

LOLOLOL X'DDDD
Well, I wouldn't disagree with that, I guess. LOL

Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't think he was really SERIOUS about that 'keep your mouths open' comment, because that'd make him insane, wouldn't it? X3
But he did say it the way he did, joking or not, and the fact is, it DID offend a lot of people. That's it.

"we are not his girlfriends or wife to really criticize him"

I don't know if I agree with that. I don't think you have to be his GF or wife to just simply say those comments were disgusting, especially when he was talking to a huge number of impressionable young girls and boys. That is just not responsible coming from a guy who says he wants to be a leader of Japanese youths.

<3 ^^

LOL! Thats true, but sometimes maybe he wanted to play with words?
Cus that simple tweet can mean lots of things...XD
But on the fact of I said about the GF and Wife, its actually I feel that some people commented on it in a way that sounds like G betrayed them you see..which I think its so funny in some ways.
But its true that, I think he should really think carefully before he speak. Cus hes not a kid anymore and he influences lots of people with just his words. @_@

"Cus that simple tweet can mean lots of things...XD"

Ummmm.... In those context of the tweets? Not really... ^^;;

"its actually I feel that some people commented on it in a way that sounds like G betrayed them you see"

Perhaps so, but NOT in the way GF or wife feels betrayed, but simply betrayed as fans who expect certain moral standards from their idol.

Doncha think?

I promise you I'm being completely serious here, but I can actually feel your happy and contentness (is that even a word? XD). Very nicely put. But, why does some of this sound so familiar? XD LOL *hugs* <3

Contentness? Contentedness, I guess? LOL

"why does some of this sound so familiar?"

What?
I have no idea what you're hinting at here. X'D

I wanted to write a long comment, but then I read Kellie's one and I think she summarized it all better than I could ( ... )

I won't add anything coz here i share COMPLETELY your point of view!

When i talked in my tweets about the topic [HOURS LATER], it was AT FIRST coz I was annoyed to read so much "bird words" on my TL against G or others fans. I think it's bad, rough and COMPLETELY worst than the words of G, coz nobody deserves hater words without any serious1GRAVE reasons BUT this was completely ignored...
We can express our POV or defend without going in saying "f*ck u, etc". We can still use polite words to say it's NOT correct.

Anyway i won't say more coz it will be interpreted as i'm trying to convince people instead of just saying my own and simple POV.

Thank you again to have understanding me yesterday, miss!^^

I was really sad after reading this. I find it horrible that you have such difficulties just because you like somebody. That you have to PROVE others that G deserves your feelings is heartbreaking. I have always thought that greatest blessings in this world is to be able to "know" what/who you like and to be able to show it freely. This treatment you and perhaps some other G-fans have to suffer is awful. We all have our likes and dislikes but we should still remain respectful towards each other. G always tells us to be strong and confident. His strenght and confidence has been build during years and suffered serious blows. But he never gave up. Please, Ryuik, do not give up.

Thank you very much. Yeah, it's tough, but I'm kinda used to it already... maybe I'll manage finally to not react at it or laugh at their faces instead of trying to show them what I see.
I guess this way is really more productive than trying to change their attitude.

Older and/or mature girls/women would most likely find it quite offensive, while a lot of impressionable junior high and high school girls who just blindly worship him may think that's the proper way to 'receive' male affection.Just wanted to point out that you leave out those who are mature/old enough and DON'T blindly worship him, understanding that what he said was definitely not good, BUT react to the things in a different way (or show they reaction in a different way ( ... )

Sorry, I just have to go ahead and answer now (after the huge walls of my previous comments X'D) because I'll keep thinking about it unless I do. >w"Just wanted to point out that you leave out those who are mature/old enough and DON'T blindly worship him, understanding that what he said was definitely not good, BUT react to the things in a different way (or show they reaction in a different way ( ... )

This is exactly how I feel about this fandom. I had to laugh when he said he wanted to be called Oppa, because all I could think of was the "OPPA DIDN'T MEAN IT" shit that happens in omonatheydidn't - because that's what happens so much in this fandom it's mind blowing.

I haven't the energy to go into a huge rant over this. I find his sexism disgusting and irresponsible, and I hate how it's become more offensive to criticise or call him out on it as opposed to the sexist comments themselves. I love this fandom, but that is one part that I cannot stand.

Wonderful post, Val. What this fandom needs is more honesty and open discussion like this.

I know how you feel about it, I've always known. ;w;

Yeah, I feel like a lot of it is 'denial'.
That it's not offensive, no big deal, he didn't mean that, etc. etc. etc.
I mean, when something is clearly offensive, and yet some of them don't see it or refuse to see it, what can you do?
Nothing really... X'3

I love this fandom so much, too.
And that's why I want more balance in it, you know?
Anything lacking in balance is not really honest, not as enjoyable, at least not to me. :/

"What this fandom needs is more honesty and open discussion like this."

I really hope we can.
The problem is, so many fans are insecure and afraid of backlash. But we can make small changes, bit by bit..., right? ^^
