Ah, I love my family! Let's talk about them a bit, shall we?

Last night, my mom called Mohandas Gandhi "an idiot" because - get this - because he was a pacifist.
Someone has obviously never heard of Jesus Christ!

My friend goes to VT, so my first natural reaction was "HolyshitIneedtocallher". However, a few rational seconds later I realized how huge the campus was, and the chances of her being involved were slim, so I calmed down a bit. Needless to say she's fine, but I've been glued to every news bulletin they've been putting up about this whole thing.

What frightened me the most was how distant the kid was from everyone else. One report said that he was unresponsive to anyone who greeted him, so what about that whole "greet the kid with no friends" approach? Did he not even want that? Geez. Just thinking about how all the victims spent their last minutes leaves me rattled. A survivor mentioned how stoic he was during his killing spree. I don't know how anyone can inflict pain on someone else and not react, let alone kill 32 people and not bat an eyelash.

Anyway, you mentioned giving blood? I've donated twice, and managed to get sick each time, but I love the feeling of helping people out.

Nope, nothing at all. Some people tried but he rebuffed them every time. He had severe mental problems.

I never did anything. Oh well. I was just considering it, but someday I'll do things like that. Umm ... how much blood do they take?

LOL, all I do is complain about my family and politics and religion! I wish I knew people like you in real life, too. The pickings are slim. :/

my goal in life is to learn everything about the human mind there is to know, find out what makes a person do evil, sick things, and fix it, so shit like this never, ever happens.

Damn, Cassandra! That's a great way to explain it! They don't want to acknowledge that they have as much as potential for evil as the man who strays from the path. If it's a demon, they can keep it OUT - it's not already inside and waiting to be fed and released on the world. People can overcome and resist these "forces of evil", yes, but the "forces of evil" are not demons ... they're what goes on in the regions of our brain that control our most ancient instincts and emotions. The animal part. And you can overcome them by thinking about and controlling your actions. Even then, it's just a part of yourself that you're resisting ( ... )

ha it's ironic that your dad talks about a lack of respect. honestly, i am impressed daily by how much insight some of my kids have, and how perceptive they can be. yes, people with limited life experience don't have that kind of thing to draw from, but *asp* reading and thinking are useful things at any point in your life ( ... )
