Meta / LJ: there are no DEPRESSED or BISEXUAL people on LJ, either!

Mar 16, 2008 15:26

PLEASE READ THIS ENTRY

It lists all the popular interests that LJ has erased from its "most popular" list - which would be

Sex, Boys, Guys, Girls, Fanfiction, Yaoi, Hardcore, Porn, Bondage, Faeries, Pain, Depression, and Bisexuality

This is not a joke. According to SUP/LJ, there are no people on LJ who are interested in sex, fanfiction, yaoi ( Read more... )

wtf, meta, lj

According to Stewardess, "Faeries" can also be a term connected with bisexuality. So yes, it makes sense. And depression? I mean - WTF? I think this will end up being some "family friendly" place in the end, which can't work. LJ as a model to make a lot of money can't work, no matter what approach they take. It can pay the bills and the staff and the servers, but it can't make anybody filthy rich. Had 6apart and SUP bothered to take a closer look at the product they bought and tried to understand how LJ is working, they'd known that ( ... )

I'm not certain what I'm going to do at this point. Obviously the atmosphere is changing for the worse and people are leaving...and I don't want to lose some of the good friends I've found here.

Let me know if you find a good option. For now I'll stay here, back up my journal, and try to find a place that will work.

Heh - no. Anybody surprised here? Anybody? Bueller? After they explained the axing of basic journals with "thee options were too complicated for new users", I can't wait for their explanation for that tossery. "We didn't want to confuse our advertisers with complicated words", probably.

Didn't really expect them to have made one yet. But yeah, I'd really LOVE to hear with what crap they come up with this time.

Funnily enough things like 'drugs' are still on the interest page. What danger or unsuitability does fanfiction and depression have that drugs don't?

Agreed - what would we do without them, protecting us from the world's evil depressed, fanfiction reading bisexual faeries...

Funny how this things never turn up on the front page unless someone digs it out. Thank you for informing us.

I'm not posting much but I always liked to have a look at things people are posting here. And I'm not interested in the schoolgirl-squeeing-activities on MySpace. I always thought LJ to be the place for more adult contents. And I'm not only talking about the NC 17 stuff. It often makes a big difference if someone is 14 or 40 when commenting about actual happenings.

I wasn't amused about removing the basic accounts but I can somehow understand that they have to earn money to keep LJ going. But now they are changing the very character of LJ.

It's bad enough when they start to delete words that are natural for a healthy (in the meaning of not being uptight or a bible basher)and liberal grown-up but it's an unbounded cheek to delete something like depression.

I guess I have to start searching for an alternative too. :(
Addle-brained, boneheaded, dense, short-witted and stupid idiots!

The thing with the "statistic cosmetics" bothers me more than the axing of the basic accounts (see my latest entry), because it show in what direction LJ is moving, and I don't like it.

I don't really see an alternative for this LJ here, though, so I'll probably stay until the orchestra plays Nearer My God To Thee, so to speak.

LJ is not myspace, can't work like myspace, has not the same users as myspace and can't deliver as much money as myspace. I wish SUP had taken a closer look at the product they bought before signing the contract. :-/

. . .

Does anyone mind at all if I completely lose my head? This is just ridiculous. I took Dauntless' very handy link to the LJ Book thing - it is amazing, and conveniant.

Now, I think, would be a good time to get started on that Sparrington Anthology project. *grimace*

It is highly amusing, what the forgot, isn't it? ;D
