Mute Math are debuting a new song on the Twilight soundtrack, and reportedly wrote some music for a scene in the film. Something tells me these boys have NO. I was excited when I got the update from Mute Math saying a new song was going to be featured on the Twilight soundtrack. Like you pointed out about them, I was all "yay exposure!" So what are they getting themselves into? I can't make out if you're happy or not about their inclusion. Also, even though I haven't read any of the novels, I was surprised to see that "Supermassive Black Hole" was the Muse song of choice. It just doesn't seem to fit the mood as far as I can tell. But who knows? With its more mainstream-friendly production and swagger, I'd say it's more likely than much of their library to draw new fans to the group. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Heh, well, I'm not necessarily unhappy about the inclusion, just... amused. Twilight is a crazy phenomenon in fandom; people are absolutely faint-worthy wild about it (mostly teen girls), to the point where they overran and out-geeked the geeks at Comic-Con with their fervor. But the books' lackluster prose and occasionally batty story decisions make it an easy target for mocking among the elitists, and the godawful casting for the film version has only accentuated that. This leads to much insane in-fighting and drama that makes me want to sit back and break out the popcorn ( ... )

That makes sense. From the time I started hearing so much about it, with crazed fans even among my own friends, I figured it was a vampire version of Harry Potter. I'm not saying I expect the story to be the same, just that it has the same feel as far as the phenomenon goes. From where I'm sitting at least ( ... )
