In Time of Trial

Uther loses his mind and tries to kill Arthur, which puts Merlin and Arthur on the run.  Lots of dramatic stuff follows.

First, I should note that the writing in this fic is very good (definitely a cut above most Merlin fic), the ideas are interesting, and I really enjoyed the ending.  I think most people would really like this fic, ( Read more... )

A Chuisle

After Arthur is killed by bandits, Merlin binds them together so that his heart can bring Arthur back and keep them both alive.  Eventually this leads to Uther condemning him to death and then (since he can't kill Merlin without killing Arthur, too) locking him in the deepest dungeon in the castle.

I am fully aware that canonically the show Merlin is not at all historically accurate.  However, there is a massive difference between characters having the bright idea of putting meat between two slices of bread before that actually happened in history and a Medieval character contemplating the merits of an animal's DNA.  Please keep this in mind ( Read more... )
