WOS: Actual Author's Notes (that prevented me from reading a fic)

Dec 13, 2009 21:50

Can't really put this all in italics, as that would ruin the formatting of the notes themselves. So, the note begins here...

Arthur/Merlin. Obviously, if you don't like it, don't read it. And just to be clear, these are two MALES. Homophobics are not welcome. Evolve. Use a condom and get over the old societies morals. 21ST CENTURY LADIES AND ( Read more... )

Oh my god. The first rule of fanfiction should be "Do not apologise. Warn, but don't apologise."

The second should be "Learn the difference between possessive and plural." Or maybe "Homophobe is a noun. Homophobic is an adjective."

I'm tempted to tell her so. Not in a mean way, just in a "someone has to tell baby fen" way.

I'm still trying to get over 'homophobics'. It's just... bizarre. Maybe she thought it was cute?

I'm kinda surprised you even got through the entirety of the notes...

Well, to be honest, I hadn't actually made it all the way through the notes when I decided to post them (I think I managed up to 'condom' the first time). But I didn't think it would be fair to post them without reading them at least once. My brain is still recovering.

I have this sweetly old-fashioned idea that the author should talk as little as possible; the characters should be the ones making all the noise. This girl sounds incredibly full of herself ("up herself" as we say over here) and seems to assume everybody else is interested in the details of her life. And actually I'm old enough to feel incredibly sorry for her poor mother, having to cart the ungrateful little ***** around for fifteen hours. Maybe she'll do us all a favour and slap her.

But she's right about one thing. We don't really care.

Honestly? Behavior like this is why I've never had even the slightest desire to have children. *shudder*

Well, 'snotty' is an optional extra with kids; it is possible to get them without!

I've heard this rumor, but I've never actually seen it to be true. Must be spending too much time with entitled American children:)

I wouldn't read that based on the notes alone - but the mention of 'teenage daughter' does not necessarily mean she's not old enough. 16 is the general age of consent in Canada, and she could very well be 19. I have my doubts, based on the write-up, but still. *shrugs*

I do enjoy this posts, btw. ^^

Yes, I was thinking that. "Teenage" doesn't necessarily mean underage.

Still... amazing author's notes. And not in a good way ;)

Amen to that. :D

Well, I have to admit that I did make the assumption that the writer was American. The legal pornography age here is 17/18 (sadly I can't remember which, though I do know that in some states pornography is 100% illegal, no matter what a person's age) and I've never met a 17/18 year old American who referred to herself as a teenager. That's the age that most kids start being viewed as adults, and they embrace that concept with both hands:)

I'm happy to hear that folks are enjoying the wall of shame posts -- they certainly relieve my own frustration when encountering notes like these!

I think that's the smallest problem with this.

Yes, I'm aware I'm a gigantic smart ass -- is this what her mother calls her instead of just flat-out telling her she's a cuntorrific bitch?

THE BUILD UP WILL NOT BE WORTH IT, IF YOU HAVE TO ALL CAPS IT AND ITALICIZE IT.

And I wanna know what the hell a 21st century lady/gentleman (darling fen, gentlemEn is the plural) is, esp with high def. and surround sound @_@.

I feel sorry for her mom (and wonder how long she can stand before running the car into a tree).

The notes are mighty annoying, that's for sure.
