I actually ended up dropping this ficfinder comm (just like I did with the Snarry one). The odd post requesting something that skeeves me is one thing, but I can already tell this comm is going to have regular posts that freak me out (like the Snarry comm, where there were regular posts requesting pedophilia fic) and I just don't want to have to see that.
Oh yeah, that happens a lot to me too. But then some of my requests are not what one would consider normal either. So...whatever floats each other's boat.
I'm pretty live and let live, but at the same time I'm really sensitive to rape. And the Merlin fandom seems to have an unusually high number of readers/writers who have a rape kink. Just means that I'm going to be treading *very* carefully in what I read there...
From my very unscientific analysis, rape/non-con/dub-con fics are the #1 requested items on these comms. Followed closely by slave-fics and/or hooker-fics. I avoid these comms like the plague for these very reasons. ::shudder::
I'm very grateful that that hasn't been my experience for the most part. Most of the comms I follow are for people requesting specific stories or they go with some of the more popular fandom cliches (bonding! crack fic! AUs! etc.) for general requests. When I see a comm regularly requesting something that squicks me out (rape/pedophilia/dark fic/death fic) I generally bail.
That's not really my experience - and I love slavefic so I'd actually notice if there were masses of slave fic requests! Not so much rapefic as I'd tend to skip right past those posts.
It probably depends on which ficsearching comm you're watching, of course. Some fandoms and particularly pairings are more prone to those kinds of fics than others.
Person number 2 obviously needs to learn to look through the comm before posting.
Which wasn't at all your point. Yes, I agree with you. I like hurt/comfort fics (and I can read some pretty major hurt before it squicks me) but I have no wish for fics where characters I love intentionally hurt other characters. Squicky all over, and character bashing to boot (in a different kind of way since the people writing those stories almost certainly *like* the characters).
I understand liking darkfic; my own love for power-dynamic fic often goes into darkfic territory. But I have to satisfy my conscience, not just my kink.
Well, in the second person's defense, the first poster only asked for fic where Arthur orders (as in a Prince ordering a servant) Merlin to have sex with him while the second person wanted, and I quote, "fics where Arthur abuses/harms/threatens/rapes Merlin". Which... not my cup of tea. *At all*.

BTW, I recently updated my list of ficsearching comms, so there might be something new that interests you.
