"A Samurai Does Not Run Through the Rain"

May 04, 2004 10:19

I debated whether or not to hit the gym last night, after a week-plus absence occasioned by the move and the test. It was raining in that sort of slight will-sapping drizzle that is perfect for curling up inside with a book. Ultimately I figured if a little rain could stop me, that didn't exactly bode well for my willpower. So I went.

Glad you went.

If drizzle makes you not want to go out, you need a better raincoat.

The good thing about going to the gym on the way to work is that I know I have to go out anyway. Gym never conflicts with comfort.

How far is it, or how long does it take to walk?

I like walking in drizzle. Of course, a lot of that has to do with where I live. I suspect that if I were living in, say, the northwest, I'd get really sick of drizzle.

Mostly it was just the gloom of looking out into the wet road and fighting the urge to curl up with a book.

After living there for 17 years I didn't get sick of drizzle.

he told me he ran into you and all that, but not about the samurai thing. He also said maybe he should consider walking, or at least biking to the gym, seeing as he was going to get some excercise anyway....

he also said that the gym is having insane promotions in an attempt to attract new members. But I am sticking with dance and pilates for now. But, apparently there was something about plane tix---it might be worth it, depending on where you want ot fly....

I wonder if that's why it seemed busier than usual. I hope they don't overpopulate like the Bally's - after a while I just didn't go after work because it'd be too crowded.

I told him that biking was probably more work than it was worth, because the five minutes you'd save on the walk would be wasted chaining the damn thing up.

Yeah, I guess signing up for the gym in the winter got me used to driving. (I actually igned up during that vicious snowstorm we had in December. Stupid inclement weather.)

Anyway, I'll be walking in today. Thanks for the inspiration!

You go every day? Make sure you put in time to let your muscles rest!

I bow before your awesome strength. ;)

Four days a week. So not quite awesome. I'm aware of the need for rest.
