Dude, SERIOUSLY? I must admit the reviews are better than I thought they would be, so I was hoping I'd like it better than the first film (I haven't seen the second one). OKAY. I was going to go ANYWAY. :D

Seriously. I saw it today, homg, best one yet. I *loved* the first, thought the second was fairly mediocre and LOVELOVELOVED the third, omg. I wanna see it AGAIN.

OMG AWESOME. Okay. I was totes going to go see it anyway, even though I was afraid I might not like it. Now I'll go into the cinema with less apprehension. SO glad you enjoyed it! :D

2. Yeah...it's definitely not your shoot-em-up mindless junk that so often permeates the movie theaters. LOL. But yeah...it's going to be intresting to see what happens come nomination time ~ if Julianne gets nominated for this one or Savage Grace or (god forbid) neither. I think had they not made some of the post-Cannes cuts I read about Blindness would be a hands-down winner, but now... I don't know. And we'll of course likely have Madame Streep in there for Doubt and probably Madame Jolie for Changeling, so... GAH! That's the problem. Julianne gets fantastic roles the same year the standards get fantastic roles. It's gotta be so frustrating for her ( ... )

2. I thought it was really smart and a great movie, actually. I can see how it could be divisive, and I genuinely HATED the moments of cheesy narration that was included at some points - but otherwise it was such a difficult, engrossing watch. They made cuts post-Cannes? Gah! Was it even MORE harrowing for Julianne's character before they cut it ( ... )

2. Yeah. The rape/murder/aftermath scene was a lot more intense. I can understand trimming the rape scene, but from everything I'd read in the blog (granted translated by google cause I don't read Portugese) there was more of a scene with Julianne and Mark following her killing of the "King of Ward Three". I forget what else, but there were a couple of other things they trimmed.

I hope she gets nominated period. I'd love it to be for Blindness, but I'll take it for Savage Grace. (Winning Blindness may give her a better shot since a lot of people couldn't stomach the subject matter of Savage Grace, but we'll see.) Right now I'm calling Meryl, Angelina, Julianne (for either), Nicole (for Australia), and probably someone for The Secret Life of Bees. But i could be way wrong.

3 and 3a. Totally hear you!!

8. I'm explaining in my post I'm putting up now. Well, how it happened the first time will (I think) be linked. Not sure how I did it this time.

2. MORE intense? *cries* It was already so... harrowing. (I keep using the same word, but that's what it was to watch this movie, really.) I can see where they might have edited it, though, because the scene was a little confusing and not quite as impactful as it might've been if they'd dragged it out even longer.

Agree about her getting nommed for Blindness. I didn't even see Savage Grace (it disappeared out of theatres too fast for me to catch it) but the subject matter could turn people off. Good call on Nicole for Australia (wow, it's like a reunion for The Hours!).

8. Okay. GOING TO BED NOW, but will probably see it tomorrow.

Yeah, the song is pretty heartrending; it breaks my heart just listening to it. The video is, quite seriously, completely out of this world amazing too.

Yes, exactly. It just put me into a state to forget everything else you wrote about. Seriously.

I mean this Meryl pic is so adorkable, but it was gone when I finished watching Julia.

Or that you are going to see HSM3. Not really a fan of neither the first or the second, but well... they aren't bad. xD

But Julia clearly manages to make my brain go blank. ^^

Doctors call it amnesia. The medical profession is clearly made of fail, for I call it the Murney Effect.

I really did NOT like HSM 1, actually, so I wouldn't go for this except that I have a free voucher and there's literally nothing else I want to see that's playing at this cinema. If Mamma Mia were on, I'd go for that in a HEARTBEAT, sigh.

LOL I APPROVE OF THE GENERAL SPEECHLESSNESS. I hope she sings Perfect in November - I'm not sure how you would stay upright at that point, but it'd be AMAZING to be able to experience it LIVE.

2. Blindness is one of those movies that will probably make me go, "oh I should see that" and then I won't get around to it until a year after it comes out on DVD. I read about half of the book when I was working at Borders and got tired of the premise, so I don't know how much I'd like the movie either ( ... )

2. Well, according to my friend, Blindness the movie is very much like Blindness the book, so if you couldn't get through the WHOLE book, maybe the film isn't for you? She said it was a surprisingly faithful adaptation. I wouldn't know, as I haven't read the book, but I DID love Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo in it. (Also, Gael Garcia Bernal was in it. He is HOT. Even though he played a crazy, crazy man.) Okay, so I'm shallow and watch movies for the cast. Is that so bad??

3. This version was adapted FROM the movie with some deleted songs thrown in - although they had Elphaba the Witch sing Jitterbug instead of Dorothy. I've no idea if the stage version YOU performed in was based more on the movie or on the book? Good thing for Ms Murney indeed ( ... )

2. I'm a bit bothered by not liking the book - it's annoying because I can see the literary merit and everything, I just didn't want to read any more. It's kind of like Lord of the Flies, which I also didn't want to finish - what do humans do in dehumanizing situations? I guess it's just a profound question in which I don't have much interest ( ... )

2. Awww, but sometimes these books with lots of literary cred are just PRETENTIOUS. And people love them, and I'm, like. You know, give me some good clean prose any day. I mean, I like reading these books and appreciating the literary value of it all as much as anybody. But sometimes... I don't need it, really ( ... )
