winter's smell is so strong that if someone comes into a heated room from a cold outside, i can smell winter radiating from them.
the thing i like best about winter is the basicness of it: the smells, the sights, the sounds are all distinct. in summer there's such a richness of everything that it's both wonderful and overwhelming -- almost impossible to focus on any one scent or sight or whatever. winter is beautiful for its starkness.

Yes, I love also the starkness and distinctness of winter. Everything is thrown into relief. Not really harsh, but beautiful.
