These days, please see a doctor if you have an extremely bad cold or are sick for more than a week. In addition to dangers from over-the-counter drugs, there are some frighteningly dangerous cold-like diseases including a deadly mutation of the common cold virus.
I agree. The acetaminophen is the only true "liver toxic" drug in Nyquil. As long as people take less than about 4 grams a day, they're not at risk of liver damage assuming they are a NORMAL HEALTHY adult. Some people can handle a lot more than that. To get 4 grams a day from Nyquil alone, he'd have to take 4 or More Adult doses EVERY NIGHT. No one should be using that much period. It seems to me we're not getting the whole story. If he was normal and healthy and taking a single adult dose of nyquil every night for several weeks, he wouldn't have died.
Well, he wasn't healthy obviously, that's why he was taking Nyquil. :P He's also not the slimmest of fellows, and I believe being overweight also puts extra strain on the liver, right?
You don't ALWAYS turn bright yellow. At least, in my experience - I'm a vet tech, and we've had animals come in not obviously yellow, but in liver failure. Upon further exam there might be a tinge, but it's not 100%.
yeah....some people think that Nyquil is the best thing to help them sleep. I hope he wasn't taking it JUST for the sleep factor. A lot of people do, but it's a bad idea to take something with ingredients for 3 or 4 other symptoms that you don't have.
