thanks for the review! i had forgotten that it came out this week. i'm kind of tempted to put it on my "to buy at some point" list because the only cds of hers i own as originals are little earthquakes and the beekeeper. so it would be nice to have her major songs in a pretty package. and really, it would be the packaging that draws me most because i could get all the songs online, i imagine.

Really, the packaging is outstanding and just amazing. In these times when people are so reliant on online music purchases, it's nice to buy something like this and see all of its art and 3-Dness! *L*

I will start by saying that I'm not a huge Tori fan, though she has done a few things that I've loved. I enjoy her more when I listen to her with my friend who has an uncanny ability to make me hear things I don't normally hear when I listen to her on my own. That being said, we listened to this box Monday night and I did enjoy it. The packaging is indeed brilliant and I read the book cover to cover while listening and really enjoyed many of the insights and anecdotes.
PS...I really liked the Beekeeper.

Yes, TBK isn't bad... just isn't really what I enjoy from Tori.

But I'm glad you enjoy her!

This is only somewhat related to your post, but I actually LOVED your current song.

I do wonder why she put this out now, considering that she's not fully retired yet. Is she really that strapped for money in raising Tash? Did you read the book she put out last year about her woes with her prior record company? She talked about how To Venus and Back counted as two albums, and Strange Little Girls as a third, which got her out of her contract with that company so that she could move on to another ( ... )

Sorry, I just wanted to clarify my comment. I made it sound like the book was solely about her music company woes, but it wasn't. It was about everything in her life and just had some parts that dealt with the music company issues. Still, I learned a LOT about the way the music industry works by reading those sections. Very interesting stuff.

I did, in fact, read her memoir last year. And, that thought of maybe trying to get out of her contract did cross my mind.

I'm not saying I hate any of her albums... I did listen to the Beekeeper on repeat when I first got, but you're right that she can't score with every album.

You'll have to let me know what you think of all of it though. :)

Y'know, I guess I'm just one of those sheeple types who, whenever- regardless of exactly what it is- Tori puts something new out, I HAVE TO have it. I don't care what it may be like, I just want it. Because it's her.

I am getting this newest for my birthday on Sunday and am looking forward to seeing the box (and what's inside it- even though I've probably heard it a million times).

Also, since I've been a bit out of it lately, I didn't know that she was releasing a new album/touring next year. That's so exciting! I hope she comes here to tour. She did with Scarlet's Walk, so I hope since she passed us by with Beekeeper she'll come here again. Or at least somewhere close by. But actually here would be really good.

Pardon the rambly-ness. I'm on drugs. Literally. Damn cold meds, they make me... weird. (Well, weirder than usual.)

:)

It will be very nice if she comes by you. If she came out on a weekend, I'd love it if I could see Tori with a real Tori fan like you :)
