I'm on the last disc of just basically listening for the "remixed" and unreleased songs, but I wanted to get some thoughts out before I forgot.
First off, was it worth the $55 even though I virtually have all of these songs on the other studio albums?
It's a tough call. I don't really feel like I'm getting that much of new material.
On the other hand, when you get down to it, I'm a pretty devoted Tori Amos fan, even when her albums like to venus and back and The Beekeeper aren't at the calibre of the rest of her work.
Plus, the packaging of this box set is ingenious. I mean, all of the music is literally held inside a box that resembles a small Bosendorfer. The photograph/commentary book inside is beautiful.
My first disc skips at the end of "Little Earthquakes," but other than that it's wonderful.
To the EWF on my flist (and to any lurkers who may read me), all in all, buy this if:
A) You consider yourself a loyal/hardcore Tori Amos fan -OR-
B) You're new to Tori Amos and want a beautiful box set and the most definitive collection without the remastered pretension of Tales of a Librarian.
I do wonder why she put this out now, considering that she's not fully retired yet. Is she really that strapped for money in raising Tash? We do know there's a new album and tour coming next year, so... hmm!
Did you buy it? What do you think?
