I'm on the last disc of just basically listening for the "remixed" and unreleased songs, but I wanted to get some thoughts out before I forgot

I do wonder why she put this out now, considering that she's not fully retired yet. Is she really that strapped for money in raising Tash?
Did you read the book she put out last year about her woes with her prior record company? She talked about how To Venus and Back counted as two albums, and Strange Little Girls as a third, which got her out of her contract with that company so that she could move on to another.
After they failed to promote The Beekeeper, I'm wondering if she's trying to rush through her committment with this record company, too. I wonder how many albums this box set will represent on her contract? Especially given that she released Tales of a Librarian, too, you know?
Anyway, I think she's probably trying to get out of this contract again. Who knows, though?
ALthough The Beekeeper isn't my favorite album, I really enjoyed it and found a lot to love about it. You can't have a Boys for Pele or Scarlet's Walk every time.
I've bought it, but it hasn't arrived yet. I should check best buy and figure out when they sent it. I'm kind of bummed that it hasn't arrived yet.
Sorry, I just wanted to clarify my comment. I made it sound like the book was solely about her music company woes, but it wasn't. It was about everything in her life and just had some parts that dealt with the music company issues. Still, I learned a LOT about the way the music industry works by reading those sections. Very interesting stuff.
I did, in fact, read her memoir last year. And, that thought of maybe trying to get out of her contract did cross my mind.
I'm not saying I hate any of her albums... I did listen to the Beekeeper on repeat when I first got, but you're right that she can't score with every album.
You'll have to let me know what you think of all of it though. :)
