Thank God for Music
After liturgy today I kicked off my shoes and laid down on the cool sidewalk to enjoy the warmth of the sun. With my eyes closed and my own humming to keep me company, I felt happily peaceful and alone despite the people swarming around me. A review of sorts

I've become endlessly distracted by -- of all things -- a Young Adult fiction series about a teenage girl who's in love with a "good" vampire (The Twilight Saga). Don't laugh. At least not yet.
Two weeks ago I watched Twilight for the first time, never having read the books. The movie intrigued me enough that I wanted to read the series, so I downloaded the e-books and got hooked. Midnight Ponderings
Today we remembered Phocas the Gardener, Kosmas the Desert-Dweller, and Theophanes the Silent. We also remembered a handful of other saints, but these three stood out -- not because of what they did, but because of what they were called.

Stability, The Place, and Fr. Aidan's Call To Action
I feel like a broken record.
Every Fall my priest gives a series of lectures on a theme of his choosing in which participants read assigned fiction, church fathers, bible commentary, etc. This Falls' Theological Seminar is on community.
I wasn't at this past Wednesday's lecture. I've never been to one. Motherhood keeps me busy on Wednesday nights. ( Read more... ) -
Beauty is Practical
Steve had called us from a payphone on the edge of Bryce Canyon National Park. He and Alex had camped on some nearby BLM land, and Isaac was thrilled to hear about hoodoos -- the unique rock formations throughout the canyon that look like tall rock giants. It's a silly sounding word, and all boys like silly sounding words.

On Distance
This Wednesday I met with a group of homeschooling mothers from my church, and I loved it. We will be meeting every other Wednesday. I love these ladies. They are wholesome friends for me, and their children are wholesome friends for my boys ( Read more... ) -
Why do I do this to myself?
I discovered a Twitter friend lives in Ashland, OR. So what did I do? Naturally, I hopped on to Craigslist and started looking at the local rental listings. There's not a day that passes that I don't think of what it would take for us to relocate.

First Day of Homeschooling
Our first day of homeschooling was surprisingly good. The time totally flew past.
