Midnight Ponderings
Today we remembered Phocas the Gardener, Kosmas the Desert-Dweller, and Theophanes the Silent. We also remembered a handful of other saints, but these three stood out -- not because of what they did, but because of what they were called.

I've always been fascinated by these literary and historical figures who have single word adjectives pinned to their names, as if the whole of their identity was so casually wrapped up in a single word.
Who am I, then?
Last night we laid out on our driveway and watched a storm roll in. The star lit sky slowly filled with clouds, wispy ones that grew thicker and deeper, piling on top of one another, racing towards the coming storm, forming in front of our very eyes as the pressure dropped. It was truly lovely.
