Ever been trapped somewhere that you can't get out of and everything is pounding, pounding and shaking and you can't get out? Yep, welcome to being stuck at home while the roofers are re-roofing your house. At the ass crack of dawn. Right over your bedroom. Seriously, they’ve been here all day and while I am glad they are pushing through before ( Read more... )

Augh, all that noise from dawn to dusk? I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

*hugs you, and get-well hugs for Sis*

The first day seemed to be the loudest, but they are still here and it sounds like someone is walking around my house but it's just them on the roof and omg, I can't wait for a day when I get proper sleep again! They claim they will be finished tomorrow. /xxx my fingers/

I passed on your get well wishes to my sister, but I didn't actually hug her for you, because she is sickie gross! ;)

One of my favorite things that I remember about "The X-Files" was that it had the fans in mind. Sometimes it didn't say "The truth is Out There" at the end of the credits. Sometimes it said something else, and you had to be quick to catch it. Mulder was so vulnerable and damaged (and handsome), and Scully so very young. Looking back, the huge portable phones they pulled out of their trenchcoats were great. I marveled at how Scully was always running around in high heels, and how Mulder's apartment was so small, dark, and rumpled. There were episodes I loved, and episodes I hated, but every one was memorable.

Chris Carter really was one of the first creators/producers who wasn't just good to his fans, but who was consciously thinking of them when he was working on the show. (wasn't one of the end credit things actually 'trust everyone'? Is that right?)

Mulder was so vulnerable and damaged (and handsome), and Scully so very young.

We just rewatched the pilot on the anniversary date and it blows my mind to see Scully look so young. She was a decade older than me when the show first started and now when I watch the pilot I realize I am older than she is there (Scully being what 28, and Gillian being 25 which is now a decade younger than me at this point).

OMG, yes, roofer days are a necessary hell. I did not enjoy ours at ALL, even if they did kick ass and do it in just one day (removed two layers of shingles, put in a roof vent, made a thingie to keep water away from the chimney, and re-roofed).

The X-files were my first regular TV-with friends night ever. And the final two seasons really don't count. Swear.

The two episodes that immediately sprang to my mind as most memorable were the one with the stretchy liver eater, and (of course?) Home.

Holy crap, one day? We kept finding things wrong with ours as they peeled shit away. We had to do our hosue, two garages, a shed, the gutters, cut back the trees, fix the siding on the 2nd garage and they found three major damaged areas underneath that ahd to be fixed as well. But...IT IS OVER NOW! THEY ARE DONE! I CAN HAZ SILENCE!

Seriously, I feel like the X-Files brought so many people together! (my first TV With Friends was Quantum Leap because various family members and friends would show up on Quantum Leap night to watch it with us, so even though I was only ten, that's where I got the idea to group-tv-watch!)

And the final two seasons really don't count. Swear. They don't count so much so that I often get into fights ( ... )

oh gods, roofers! I was sure they were gonna come right through and land in my kitchen! And they shook the whole house! I so feel for you babe *hugs and sends get better soon thoughts to your sister*

X-Files was my first online fandom and my introduction to slash. Ah, the good old days of the gossamer achieve. I'd religiously scan through the new updates every week looking for the Mulder/Krycek (it's still there too! http://www.gossamer.org/ ) As for feels, I have them all :D Krycek is not dead (I refuse to believe) and according to the new comic neither are the Lone Gunman.

Right? They sounded like they were in the house! I thought the hanging lamp was going to rattle right off and break! It's all done now though - BLISSFUL SILENCE AGAIN!

This means without The X-Files, you and I might never have met!!!! THANK YOU, CHRIS CARTER!

I'm not sure I like that the Lone Gunmen are alive in the comic. I bawled when they died, it was so moving and such a beautiful sacrifice I almost feel like them being alive cheapens it. But! them being alive in the comic is pretty cool since it means more of their adventures :D

Also, the Cigarette Smoking Man has made an appearance in the comic, and it wasn't a flashback (wtf!!!!!!) so I'm sure it can't be long before everyone's favorite unsinkable rat is back too.

For me, The X-Files ended at the end of S7. I don't think I could bring myself to read the comics. But you let me know if Krycek makes an appearance (I might have to pick that issue up for my sister!)

OHMAHGAH IT'S SHOW 1.0! You know I started in XF fandom back in the day and have really never left. It will always be my favorite show EVER (SPN comes a close second) and the characters will have a special place in my heart forever. So some talking points with which to better illustrate! <-- "Bad Blood" reference ( ... )

LOL You know, I put this post up and then I patiently sat back and waited for your reaction!! I knew you'd flip your lid, bb!

You know I started in XF fandom back in the day and have really never left. It will always be my favorite show EVER

It deserves to be your favorite show ever, but also I think we always hold a special place in our hearts for that first show that made us sit up and say, "This is giving me hardcore feelings about things!"

My very first fan fic was M/S and written under my real name. It's the only one under my real name (and then I learned how to make up a handle, LOL) It's still on Gossamer.

Were you in college or high school when this took place? Just curious. Someone else pointed out to me that gossamer is still there and I was bowled over. Idk that!

The internet handle I use now is the first one I created to write XF fic, back in 1998. I've never found a reason to change itIt's a great handle!! I had to tweak mine just a little because The Artful Dodger was already a ( ... )
