I just... I don't even really know what I need a theory about any more. Does it make sense that River is in jail for killing the Doctor in The Impossible Astronaut? If she really was just a kid, add one to the list of Ways The Universe Has Royally Fucked Over The Pond Family...

It DOESN'T make sense that River is in jail for killing the Doctor in The Impossible Astronaut (nevermind that I don't think that was her in there)

1. Why would a little kid have to go to jail?
2. Why would she be in Stormcage for a murder committed in 2011?
3. A murder for which there is no body.
4. And no evidence.
5. And the murderer walked away into the water leaving behind absolutely no proof that they were ever there besides four witnesses that didn't even see the face of whoever was in the suit. And they never reported it to anyone.

I definitely think the murder River is in jail for is NOT whatever happened in the beginning of TIA.

IAWTC SO HARD. Also, I'm with you on the little girl NOT being River/Melody but some OTHER little girl. River and the Doctor's kid? Some other experiment? Something. But not River.

I don't think the little girl is River, AND I don't think it's the little girl in the suit when the Doctor is shot.

I don't think a lot of things!

I definitely think another child is in the mix, though, and that River is not the one who regenerates. I think Melody is returned to the Ponds as a baby, though they might lose her again later. When is that picture of Amy holding her taken? The regenerating girl could be River and the Doctor's kid! It would make more sense for their child to have the ability to regenerate. I don't know, though. That definitely isn't something I'm sure of.

I don't think the kid in the Impossible Astronaut is River.
I mean, River was completely and utterly surprised that the Doctor was killed.

Maybe it is a River from an alternate timeline. A timeline where River wasn't in the same childhood environment that the River we know and love came from.

I think maybe that little girl is a product of being a lost soul due to Kovarian's plans rather than a little girl saved by the Doctor and who grew up to be generally badass someway, somehow.

Either way, I really don't see Amy and Rory getting their baby back to raise. I think River was always destined for a life without her parents, and my only anticipation is whether it is a fact the Ponds get to accept.

Blah I don't know, my head's spinning over this show hardcore.

Agreed, I don't think that the kiddo in TIA is River. I vote that River and Eleven have sexy time --on bunk beds!-- and have her. Yay! Sexy times! Now, if the girl is in the suit and does kill Eleven, the question is why. When I saw TIA, what I got what Eleven knew exactly what would happen. He's 200 years old, granted, but he stood there, said he knew it was whomever in that suit and that it was ok. He practically stretched his arms out and said "Go!" So, why would you let your own kiddo kill you? Also, who was the weird old dude in TIA that just appeared and brought the gas can or whatever? What is that Moff??! Anyways, I think that River kills Rory. I mean, it was referenced in the first Weeping Angles episode (I think), that she was imprisoned because she killed a good man. Duh, this last episode was A Good Man Goes to War and Amy's whole monologue is about the last of his kind, a good man, etc. and she is speaking about RORY (*epic love*). So, now the question is WHY does River kill him. Perhaps it was an accident?

That old man is Canton. I have a feeling we've not seen the last of Canton and the Silence yet. He certainly knew sth about the whole situation, more than what happened in TIA/DODM. I agree she killed Rory. Perhaps before she knew he's her father?

Wait, that was Canton? Did I miss something (probably! LOL) or are you assuming that?

Ahh, so many questions! I don't want Rory to die, I really like him! He's an adorable nerd!

I'm pretty sure they implied heavily in the episode it's Canton, mostly because he mentioned they would see him again and they met Canton immediately afterward, and because he was played by Mark Sheppard's dad, PLUS they spelled it out in the Confidential. Unless, we're all going to decide everything is suspect and glare at Moffat? BECAUSE I AM DOWN WITH THAT.
