Request for music suggestions
My younger son Malcolm has been enjoying Star Wars VI (Return of the Jedi), and in particular loves the final (non-credits) musical selection. The best way I can describe it is somewhat of a mainstreamed (larger group) Andean-style music. Does anyone have suggestions for similar music (bands/albums) that I could find for him? -

Tune, tone, tin.
This morning was the elementary school's "winter concert". Time was when they didn't do this during school hours, which more importantly meant they didn't do this during work hours. Instead, it was from 9:30-10:30am, tying up traffic for blocks, with people parking so as to avoid snowbanks (and, thus, NOT avoiding traffic all that well). And, of ( Read more... ) -
A few oddities
- On my way to work, I pass a church. This, in and of itself, isn't really unusual. Nor is the fact that the church has a signboard outside, on which they post messages from time to time. However, the letters they use are a sans-serif font, and the letters have rounded corners. That, and whoever arranges the sign sometimes pushes the letters too ( Read more... )

Getting what you ask for...
OK, so I've seen my first TV commercial specifically for Chanukah (rather than "holidays" or "...and for our Jewish friends..."). I guess I should be happy. But did it have to be a commercial encouraging women to have their man's prostate examined? I know it's important, but really? "Give the gift of a kosher prostate"??
