A few oddities

  1. On my way to work, I pass a church.  This, in and of itself, isn't really unusual.  Nor is the fact that the church has a signboard outside, on which they post messages from time to time.  However, the letters they use are a sans-serif font, and the letters have rounded corners.  That, and whoever arranges the sign sometimes pushes the letters too close together; this means that occasionally a letter gets visually lost (in particular, the letter "I" seems to be prone to this, when I drive by and read the sign).  That's why every day for about a week I have to look twice at the sign that says "ARISE WITH US".
  2. There's a construction project in progress near my workplace.  There are striking (non)workers outside.  They're carrying signs.  OK so far, right?  They're "fill in the blank" signs, where all the grievances are neatly printed, with a blank for whatever contractor/construction company happens to be offending them this week.  To me that seems a little... counter-productive.  Or at least non-helpful to the impression they're trying to foster.
  3. On the way to work, did I really just hear a commercial for a company/website whose aim is to facilitate "discrete" extra-marital affairs?  The whole thing boiled down to: "want a little extra on the side, with no strings?  Go ahead - we won't tell."
