This morning was the elementary school's "winter concert".  Time was when they didn't do this during school hours, which more importantly meant they didn't do this during work hours.  Instead, it was from 9:30-10:30am, tying up traffic for blocks, with people parking so as to avoid snowbanks (and, thus, NOT avoiding traffic all that well).  And, of ( Read more... )

When I discovered that I had to JUST GIVE UP on my dream to have a piano in the house, I got an electronic keyboard (and wow, did it take a long time to find a FULL keyboard). And, lo and behold, for those of us who love ragtime and idolize Scott Joplin, there really is a setting they call "honky-tonk" that sounds rather like my first piano that my mother got for $20 at a fire sale because the sprinklers had murdered the soundboard. And the ragtime doesn't sound half-bad on that funny setting.

Er, nostalgia, kinda?
