You're doing fine. This happens to everyone. We all fall. What needs to be measured are the steps between the falls. The walk grows longer and longer after each stumble, even if we trip over the same rock that keeps manifesting on the path.
There is an interesting book by film maker David Lynch, called "Catching The Big Fish" I'm reading it now and I think you would find it interesting.
By the way I picked up the new Radiohead yesterday and I'm listening to it now. Great stuff. But you're right, at times something that is dark and moody can only validate negativity.
It is helpful to walk towards the light. As David Lynch says, if you do each step gets brighter.
I find myself thinking that I'm learning the lessons sooner (should I say remembering them sooner) so I don't spend as long winding down a bad path before I recover.
Getting better at walking toward the light. It keeps me going.
Enjoy the album. I was amazed at how much richer it sounded when I finally got the CD after listening to the early mp3s. It's especially good on a decent system. Nigel Godrich does some amazing production work (as always), but after seeing the video from their NYE web broadcast, I realize that the original material is really rich to begin with, even performed live. Seeing Johnny Greenwood and Thom Yorke do a version of Faust Arp in a field somewhere in Scotland with just a guitar and a microphone was especially sweet.
