So today is my good friend Rachel's birthday - Happy Birthday! Went up to Glasgow last weekend to see her. The weather was cold but beautifully sunny and so I got some nice photos of the city skyline from The Lighthouse and Queen's Park.

So missy_manic geeked out when she managed to get tickets for us both to visit Aldwych underground station. This station is closed to the public but is kept for training staff and for requests for filming locations that resemble the London Underground. As with many other stations it was used for shelter during the 1940s London Blitz. It was opened for tours ( Read more... )

Finally something fairly interesting to post! A few weeks back it was Open House weekend (where usually shut buildings/spaces are open to the public for tours/viewing). Did not manage to get tickets to go to the BT Tower (poo!) but did go to a North London event. Gaumont Palace, now the Dominion Church in Wood Green. And wow! it is big! ( Read more... )
