Kairi - Sora's Most Important Person?

I seriously think not. Here're some tidbits I came to realize about Kairi and wouldn't really mind a good debate about it - speficially the point raised in the topic.

Let this be named - The Essay, Appendix A, if only because it deals with Kairi and Namine both and what I believe to be misconceptions about it.

Woo. Finally a reply.
I have to admit I was expecting a raging, hateful reply from people that liked Kairi better than I did.
Glad it wasn't.
And I'm glad you enjoyed it :) now just to hope it's because you agree and not because you find me to be completely insane XD

Sanity is over-rated anyway. I do agree though. I originally liked Kairi, but I am a natural shipper, or a hopeless shipper, probably the later, so I was happy just to have someone to ship. I like Sora better in the first game. Then COM comes out and Naminé was just too wonderful not to like. There was just so much to her. And since then I have been seeing more and more why I didnt like Kairi. Your essays are fabulous. It feels like you stole everything in my brain and translated it into words that can be read by people. I could never explain why Kairi irked me, but here you have laid things out so well and basicially organized my thoughts for me. Your so kind to do the dirty work like that ♥
Sorry my reply was so late. I had the entry open in a tab on my browser for a while before I got the opportunity to read it. I blame work and gaming addictions.

I did too! ...until the "let's take the raft and go, just the two of us!" would-be joke came along.
I'm sorry, that's not something you let a character joke about unless you want to break, 10 minutes into the game, the very concept you're supposed to be struggling to create for her, being a childhood friend for both Sora and Riku. Sigh.

I can relate =w=;;; even if the characters aren't together or even know each other, I'd probably find myself two characters I like that look like they can get along. It's part of the fun of fandom.

I like Sora better in the first game. Then COM comes out and Naminé was just too wonderful not to like. There was just so much to her.Sora in KH1 was amazing. And his CoM/Re:CoM incarnations are the best in the series, imo. I'm sorry, he just locked his best friend for life in a realm of Darkness filled with monsters out to eat his Heart, after he just had to fight against and save said friend, after his whole ( ... )

I like your essays and all and do like namine more than kairi but the thing about this part is that sora does remember namine as shown in a Final mix+ scene between him and riku close to the end, and also you make it seem namine and kairi are completely different people but somewhere deep down kairi and namine are the same the proper way to explain the difference in their personalities is that kairi is a spoilled brat and namine was constantly abused by the org and diz since her "birth", they were her impression of how most people and kairi who has been the center of attention all of her life on the island. what I'm saying is if you switched them namine would be how namine is and kairi how namine was

That doesn't contradict what I'm saying here. The Memories Namine altered were the ones she created already. Fake Memories to begin with. What Sora recalled at the end of FM+ - aside from Nomura being unclear about how much of that Sora remembers, if he indeed remembers at all and didn't just add stuff up from the 'thank Namine' note and meeting her for a while - would be the Memories of Namine from Castle Oblivion. He wouldn't have to recall their 'childhood Memories' for that scene to happen, thus leaving those Memories to be 'free for grabs' to be redirected at Kairi.

First I must say, I LOVE YOUR ESSAYS. It's like everything I ever noticed or felt has now been written and told to everyone.
The only thing is, I really seriously doubt that it goes as deep as what you, me, and a lot of other people think.
They throw in so many details that don't make sense and are hard to accept and the only excuse they have is, "It's our game. Deal."
It bothers me so much because I tend to overthink everything, including games lol
I just hate how, regardless of everything in the game, Kairi is Sora's special person 'just because'.
It's not that I HATE her. She just kinda sucks.
The writers made her into yet another wanky little girl.
-sigh-
I guess that's all I have to say, except I have one question.
When are you posting the next part to your kairi/namine essay?
I really want to see it. :/

I really can't wait for Days to come out. I'm sure it'll leave me feeling angry when I finish it, but it's bound to be great. Unfortunately, I saw so many spoilers so there won't be too many suprises. >_"It's just that when they chose to actually show her, they had her betray her assigned role of being sweet and adorable and to actually care about Riku ( ... )
