For those few Spartacus: Blood and Sand fans on my flist - Andy Whitfield has died of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. I just finished a rewatch of Spartacus a few days ago, and I was struck all over again by how good he really was in the role, and by his beautiful eyes. He was only 39. Too young ( Read more... )

Are you guys watching Southland on TNT? You totally should be, not just for the Cudlitz, but for the awesome Regina King, who is kicking ass as an LAPD detective. I love her so much. The run of new episodes started this past Tuesday, and there are five to go -- if the ratings are good, I think TNT is going to pick them up for an additional season, ( Read more... )

OK, I hung in for the first five episodes, and things are better. There's still a lot of stylized gore, but there are some interesting characters, including a male/male pairing treated as no big deal, and men being used as objects in the arena and sexually, which is something you just don't see much on TV.
