The state of the fannish me

Sep 19, 2011 12:59

Happy Monday, people in LJ-land! I tried to write this post about 23406283 times over the weekend, but it went on too long, and I got tired writing it. I can only imagine how you would have felt reading it. So I shall sum up!

- I have started to move past and overcome a deadening writer's block that has lasted a year and a half, all thanks to The Eagle and the book it's based on, and the fans/the low-key, lovely fandom built around it. In the past couple weeks, I've written four Marcus/Esca stories and posted two of them, and in the last month, I made two vids (finished but being revised, so not posted yet). To feel fannish joy and creativity, and most particularly to find joy in writing, is something I was afraid would never happen to me again. I'm tickled down to my toes about that.

I do sometimes worry that the things I want to write in that fandom are too cliched, or the picspams I want to post are not going to interest anyone, but honestly? I don't care that much. *g* I had forgotten what it was like to be fannish whether anyone else is in the sandbox, so I'm going to roll around in that feeling of happiness for a while, and if other people want to come play - that's awesome. I signed up for the Eagle Big Bang. We shall see how that goes.

- I've reached the end of my cycle of fannishness where Supernatural is concerned. I don't feel fannish about it at all, at this point, and that's an odd feeling after five years of being immersed in every aspect of it. It's not really because of the show itself, per se; in fact, I will still be watching the show come Friday, and posting about it, but at the moment I'm not reading any fic in the fandom. I mention this only because I suspect there are people who friended my journal solely for SPN- or J2-related content, and at this moment, I don't see myself writing Sam/Dean ever again. Winter (this year's Big Bang story) was likely my last story for that pairing, I'm afraid. So if you feel the need to cut this journal, please do so! I won't be offended. It's the way of fandom. Paths will cross again in future fandoms; please do what makes you happy.

- H50 is back on my TV tonight!! YAY!!

- Spartacus and Southland will be back in January! YAY!!

- Festivids: probably not signing up this year, but looking forward to watching the proceedings!

- Yuletide: YES PLEASE!

And that sums it up.

I'll make a separate post of YET MORE The Eagle fic recs very soon.

the eagle, southland, spn, spartacus blood and sand, h50
