Spent a few minutes speed-reading thru LJ tonight, taking a short break from reading textbooks and class forums.  I didn't get near enough caught up on this weekend, even though I skipped church tonight (unheard of for me!). I feel like I've been beaten over the head with a textbook everyday for 3 weeks, and I just want to watch tv or read ( Read more... )

So riddle me this - Ky beats Florida twice, including TODAY, and they're a 4 seed while Florida is a #2. Huh?

UGH!!! I am trying not to be one of those crazy conspiracy theorist fans who thinks the NCAA has it out for Cal and KY both separately and together, but that would be easier if they didn't keep doing things like this!!!!!! I can accept KY as a 4; I don't like it, but I can deal. But in what universe is Florida a 2????????? Even notwithstanding the part where Kentucky beat them twice, including yesterday (quite handily, and with injured players and zero depth in the lineup), what in their overall record gets them a 2 seed?????? Blerg.

Though I do hope we bring a revenge smackdown to what looks to be a probable matchup with West Virginia in round 2.

I have to admit, though, I've had a hard time caring about basketball this season. I've been half paying attention to Kentucky and not really paying much attention at all to anyone else. Not sure why.

Also, yay for the pup! I hope he'll be a good addition to your family!

I've had a hard time just finding time to watch the games, but I've been keeping up for the most part. It seems they're peaking at the right time (let's hope anyway). I"m glad that the SEC got 5 teams in, anyway, even if the seeds are weird and GA is in and Alabama is not.

I do want to look into getting him more training (as he's obviously has some already), but it'll probably be a couple months before I have the time or energy to look into it. We do have a dog park pretty close by, so once I know what to do we'll try taking him there. On our walks up and down the road, we've run into 2 dogs - one was small and was with its owner (although he couldn't catch the dog). I just held Charlie until they went by (he was fine with that). The second time it was a bigger dog loose at a house we were walking by - I turned around us around and the other dog just stared and then went to smell where we'd been, so that was ok too.

Thanks for the heads up re: Dr. Who. I hope this means it will air around the same time up here.

I believe that taking a good break every so often helps with the studying.

You post a pic of the latest addition to your family. : )

I posted a couple earlier, but I'll take some more later this week when it's sunny.

I hope Canada gets the same premier date, too!

Congrats on the official addition of Charlie to the family.

I share your pain re: studying. It gets so tiresome trying to be disciplined about it all the time. But beyond that, you can only cram the brain with info for so long before you HAVE to take a break because nothing else will go inside until the brain has had a chance to process it all. Hang in there. Remember, these times don't last forever.

Yes, I've reached that point of not being able to cram anything else in, no matter what I do (reading out loud, walking around, you name it). But unfortunately I don't have time to break much, other than to switch to something else (write instead, or a different type of reading). I do hate it because I don't feel like I'm really absorbing the knowledge (that I'll need later!) as well as I did last semester.
