Thunder in Kahndaq

Dec 08, 2008 12:14

The palace stronghold that was built by Asim Muhunnnad, the former dictator of Kahndaq, was build on the blood of his people, and was a focus of fear for the citizens of Kahndaq, especially in the capital city of Shiruta.

That was before the savior came.  Before Black Adam reclaimed his homeland.

Though feared and, in some cases, despised by those ( Read more... )

Meanwhile, on the borders of Kahndaq _man_of_steel_ December 8 2008, 17:42:25 UTC
The damage he had seen flying in towards Kahndaq had been devastating. The mere presence of the Rock of Eternity in this plane was causing the disruption of weather patterns in the most destructive of ways. A blizzard blanketing Egypt. Hurricanes threatening the coastal areas of Africa.

Other JLA and JSA members were on the scene to save lives and control the damage. His team, however, was going to get to the bottom of this.

That's when he lays eyes on the Rock of Eternity, hovering over Kahndaq. In the madness around him, he could tell Kahndaq was untouched, at least weather-wise.

"Great Scott..."

Jay rushes along below the heroes overhead, allowing the jets following Superman to keep up. It cannot be a coincidence, but neither is it a foregone conclusion that Black Adam is responsible.

On the other hand, it can't be ruled out, either.

He won't like the JSA coming into Kahndaq. And without Carter or even Dr. Fate, he won't listen.

Jay spent an extended time in the past once, just a few years ago, and got to know Teth-Adam moderately well... but that just may not be enough.

Keeping pace with Jay is easy enough for Wally. He does what he can to stop the hurricanes by producing a some buffer-zones in the air, but he knows that the only way to really stop this is to take out the source.

Ralph takes note of the destruction - there's going to be a lot of diplomatic work to do once this is over, but there's not much he can do about that.
He takes note of the Rock of Eternity, and the condition of Khandaq. Not a lot he can do about that either.

But despite what he can't do, he volunteered to come along on this mission for what he can. As soon as they close into view, he leaps from the plane, strtetching into a makeshift Dibney-hang glider, too small for most radar to pick up on, and descends towards the city. As usual, compared to a lot of the people present, he'd generally be considered an afterthought, which has served him well dozens of times. He's not here to fight, or even get involved in fights he doesn't have to.
The Ductile Detective is here to rescue his wife, and moreover, to get to the bottom of what's going on here.

And then they see it, from whatever vantage point they are in the city.

Kahndaq's own version of the Hawk Police...the Feitherian nation, who pledged their fealty to Black Adam all those months ago.

They rise, hundreds of them, out of the city limits...

as a black streak shoots PAST them...

...and right through the JSA's transport, splitting the craft in half.

Hourman was the lucky one sitting right where the split point from the craft is. The force of the blow causes him to lurch foward and begin plummeting from the sky.

Mister Terrific is not so lucky. As the front half of the plane begins to plummet, his T-spheres cut a hole through the windscreen, allowing him to bail.

Now, he hopes someone is in the vicinity to catch him.

Inside the city, Ralph will find that there aren't very many people to talk TO...most are in hiding.

As he lays eyes on an inhabitant, the native Kahndaqian's eyes widen, as a size damn-that's-big boot looks to come down on Ralph.

Ralph flattens out under the blow. Of all the people who could have encountered Atom Smasher, despite the apparent mismatch, Ralph ends up fairly grateful its him. As long as he doesn't tense up, smashing damage - Atom Smasher's specialty, isn't going to do a lot, like punching elastic. Still, he plays along, staying low and looking for an opportunity to tie the giant's legs together when he's off-balance, such as stomping or reaching down.

And Ralph has backup in the form of the Flash.

The red blur moves around Atom Smasher, running up the giant's leg towards his head.

Behind Atom Smasher's head, an unknown figure focuses...

The Flash will begin to feel...hungry.

A second, similar streak to the first is barreling at the Batwing - faster than a speeding bullet.

He's met in midstream by the Last Son of Krypton. Unlike Flash, he's not in the mood to negotiate.

"What the hell's going on here, Adam!?!" Superman shouts as the blow sends him screaming down to the ground.

Adam impacts, and sees Superman streaking towards him.

Six feet from the ground, Adam, not saying a words, slams right into him. The force of impact sends the sands on the outskirts of the city flying everywhere.

Superman meets him, blow for blow. The matchup is even - Superman is slightly stronger, but the magic coursing through Adam's abilities give each of Adam's formidible punches a bit more bite.

He still says nothing...which is odd, as Adam, although a man of few words, still usually has these words. Not even a "Get out of my country" from him.

Power Girl, out of the corner of her eye, will see a building...yes, a building...flying towards her from the ground.

A blur of blue and red moves towards the General, providing a flurry of punches. He might not be able to damage him, but he can distract him... and set him up for a hit from Kara.

nation_jla December 9 2008, 20:30:13 UTC
Kara's not the next to advance, though, as the Martian Manhunter leads in with his vision powers, effectively severing the left arm of the General. It will grow back in seconds, but that's seconds he can't hit anyone with it. We must contain him until we can find the means to imprison him. Brute force won't be the answer here. J'onn speaks telepathically.

Kara would have advanced, had it not been for the building.

"$#%+!" She had tried to duck it, really, she had, but, well, first she'd stopped to make sure of what she was doing.

Stupid move, Kara. Stupid, stupid move.

Rubbing her arm, she scowls and sees Jay and J'onn doing their work on him.

No, but brute force is just fine with me while we try to figure out the plan, she telepathically conveys before darting down towards him.

Heat vision shoots out of her eyes.
