Thunder in Kahndaq

Dec 08, 2008 12:14

The palace stronghold that was built by Asim Muhunnnad, the former dictator of Kahndaq, was build on the blood of his people, and was a focus of fear for the citizens of Kahndaq, especially in the capital city of Shiruta.

That was before the savior came.  Before Black Adam reclaimed his homeland.

Though feared and, in some cases, despised by those ( Read more... )

A second, similar streak to the first is barreling at the Batwing - faster than a speeding bullet.

He's met in midstream by the Last Son of Krypton. Unlike Flash, he's not in the mood to negotiate.

"What the hell's going on here, Adam!?!" Superman shouts as the blow sends him screaming down to the ground.

Adam impacts, and sees Superman streaking towards him.

Six feet from the ground, Adam, not saying a words, slams right into him. The force of impact sends the sands on the outskirts of the city flying everywhere.

Superman meets him, blow for blow. The matchup is even - Superman is slightly stronger, but the magic coursing through Adam's abilities give each of Adam's formidible punches a bit more bite.

He still says nothing...which is odd, as Adam, although a man of few words, still usually has these words. Not even a "Get out of my country" from him.

The Batwing veers off as Batman switches to evasives. A set of guidance flaps pop out from each wing.

"So much for diplomacy," he grumbles through the communicator, "Somehow I don't think Adam's our prime target. Whoever's behind this will be within whatever the Rock is protecting. I'm heading for the palace."

The bolt of blackness that took out the JSA transport comes onto the Batwing's telemetry sensors roughly one second before making impact.

He catches it with the corner of his eye and pulls the Batwing into a sharp barrel roll, jamming on the reverse thrust.

Let's hope these payloads are worth a damn. The first to be jettisoned are two smoke canisters, engulfing the immediate vicinity in a thick smog. He could at least fly by radar, but could she?

Not really, no.

But five seconds later, the smog begins to funnel inward, and then upward, as the figure uses the "Speed of Mercury" (?) to funnel the smoke upwards by flying in circles.

That done, she continues pursuit. But the seconds bought might mean something.

A few seconds were enough for him to modify his trajectory. He comes directly at her, the targeting system squealing at him. As he passes, Mary will be doused in the second payload.

This stuff had cost him millions to design. To the beholder, it just looks like gloopy porridge, but she really doesn't want to get that stuff hot.

As he swings in for another pass, a set of flame-throwers snap out from the underside of the Batwing.

As it lights up, he can almost hear the scream through his cockpit.

Yeah, that hurt, but it didn't stop. She flew right into the flightpath of the batwing and lets it ram into her.

Just what she wanted.

"SHAZAM!"

She then drops below the craft as a loud "KRAKOOM" precedes the energy of the mystic lightning coming down on the Batwing.

... Tearing a hole right through the left wing. He wrestles with the controls, desperately trying to keep it level if not in the air.

He's not down yet though, and if Mary tries to follow him she'll get a spray of adhesive fluid.

She doesn't. She moves to assist the General, feeling her quarry is sufficiently dealt with.

The Batwing lurches, taking a nose dive towards the ground--

Only to have a bright red-and-yellow parachute unfurl to slow the crash. And crash it does, tearing what remained of the wings asunder. The cockpit, however, remains intact.

"Holy last-quarter touchdown, Bats!" Plaz morphs into a mirror image of Robin, "Looks like it's just the two of us, the dynamic duo on a quest for justice!"

Batman pops the hood and hits the ground running. Destination: the palace. As he runs, he orders Plastic Man, "The General," pointing in the hulking villain's direction.
