The first living being they see comes at them before they reach the ground.

Heat vision blazing.

Several dozen Manhunters head towards Superman, hoping to swarm him into submission.

That might be slightly difficult, as the second to show up is none other than J'onn J'onnz.

"Ahem..." the Martian says, clearing his throat

"J'ONN SMASH!" He cries, the fists of the Martian Manhunter's currently brutish form coming down on the nearest robotic ones.

This is where it all began.

Several blocks away from all the fighting, the super-punches and the plasma beams and the lasers and the death rays, a Cyborg Superman descended upon the concrete sidewalk outside the front of the Daily Planet. This is where it all began.

There was a plaque here once, a memorial one.

IN MEMORY OF SUPERMAN

DIED ON THIS SPOT DEFENDING METROPOLISIt wasn't here anymore. This is where the Cyborg Superman made first contact. He melted the plaque with his heat vision, to the dismay of onlookers. Couldn't they see they see that he was Superman ( ... )

Hank began cutting through the base of the Daily Planet with his heat-vision.

He doesn't get very far.

A blue blur moving at near light speed slams into him from the side, then takes him straight up. "Sorry, yellow isn't your color." Superman says, as he shoves hard, with the intent on sending him straight upwards."

Momentarily stunned, Hank is carried along with an evil smile on his face. He goes gliding upwards and away, ramping all of his concentration through those mighty ten rings and sending a titanic yellow column of energy at his nemesis.

Both men are terrified of losing, here, and it only amplifies the power.

Henshaw and his Manhunters have weakened the city. Time for the real damage to arrive.

Mongul lowers to the ground, enveloped in a yellow aura. Behind him, thousands of yellow-clad members of Sinestro's corps join him.

The early invasion is done. Now the Sinestro Corps has reached Earth.

Maash lands with two sadistic grins and one terrified expression.

"Kill them all! Squishy humans!"

"I'd like to see how they're made, myself. Take them apart piece by piece and learn how to harm them best."

"No! Spare them! Please!"

Maash could have chosen a better target to touch down in front of. Sure, he could have done a whole lot worse with all the metahumans polluting the sky, but Vic Sage has a monkey wrench in his hands and by its trajectory he certainly knows how to use it.

The monkey wrench collides with the yellow shield surrounding Maash. The upper head cries out.

"Run! They'll kill you!"

"Shut up!" the middle head snarls.

Maash points his ring at the Question and unleashes a blast of yellow plasma.

Yellow light fills the air around Metropolis. Fear is attempting to pull this city apart, even as the heroes of the world attempt to slow the assault. But there are too few heroes, and too many enemies.

Until now.

Green light streaks down, and blasts begin to tear Sinestro Corps members apart.

"C'mon, ya poozers!" Kilowog calls out to the army at his back. "Let's show these knockoffs what the Green Lantern Corps is made of!"

Kraken follows up behind him, her face set in a scowl. She creates jagged, Apokaliptian weapons and sends them flying, hacking and slashing away at all the Sinestro Corps members she can get her constructs on. "Do not dare surrender!" she yells out in her exotic accent. "Do not retreat!" She forms a lasso of green energy and pulls one Sinestro over to her and headbutts him savagely before taking him out.

Bur'Gunza watches as his companions are killed by Kraken's assault. His eyes narrow, waiting for an opening... there.

He charges, his fists covered with yellow spikes, trying to break her back with his fist.

Smithwick's ego still smarts. The fight on Oa did not go as he planned. Salaak managed to defeat him there, during the initial jailbreak assault. Even knocked him unconscious.

It was good fortune that he was rescued by one of his compatriots. Time to even the score.

He looks up at the incoming Lanterns and grins, hoping that Salaak is among them here. He flies towards one band of rookies, generating a wide range of rotating blades and saws. Perhaps he can kill four at once!

Unlikely. Since even those yet to graduate have been called to Earth, the Corp's seniors appointed one of their most veteran Lanterns to helm the rookies. Well, self-appointed. Whilst Kilowog directs the graduates and sector Lanterns from high, Salaak's detachment cut through the city at street level.

His ring responds as prompt as Smithwick's, bringing up energy constructs along the precise trajectory line of each of the aggressor's projectiles.

The saws and blades hit Salaak's constructs, attempting to grind through them.

The Slyggian looks down to see his rival. "So they let you out of your ivory tower," Smithwick snarls. A pike launches from his ring, directly for Salaak's head, even as twenty yellow explosive balls of energy fly towards him, each from a different direction.

salaak November 24 2008, 17:21:08 UTC
The screens that surround Salaak go blank and they spiral off to collide with each of the energy spheres. He brings his ring arm up to glance the pike away from his face before diving towards the other Slyggian.

"That's emerald tower," he corrects, spitting a flock of corrosive energy gulls from his ring.
