Year ToDo List: 2008

Jun 06, 2008 16:32

Renewing ToDo List for 2008. Items not completed in 2007 list repeated. Some items from the Greater Kyuu Project included.

Items from 2007:
  1. Close CharterOne acct.
I will need to transfer this money to my main account. Money in this account is largely ignored.
  2. Open IRA account.
With extra money sitting in savings, this would be a good place to put some.
  3. Harry Potter for Sister.
Plan on purchasing the entire Harry Potter book set for my sister, to be delivered during my Vegas trip later this year.
  4. Attend two non-Chicago area anime conventions.
For this, I will have YoumaCon scheduled. As for a second convention, I have yet to decide upon that. Ohayocon sounds tempting - as it is scheduled over my birthday.

Active List. New items for 2008:
  1. Regular Christian practice. ( Daily Reading)
Individual Zen-style practice can be combined with Christian concepts as part of daily training. This is to maintain mindfulness of everything learned and re-learned from church, Scripture, daily practice, and everything else.
  2. Study Scripture. ( Book Club) ( Daily Reading)
Also an on-going process. Scripture itself proves to be a viable source of coding for my own moral guidance system. Given the amount of material, no way this will be completed during the year. Therefore, regular study will be noted.
  3. Maintain workout program. ( Purpose)
Already an on-going process. Yet, at times, I do find myself lacking. As long as I do physical exercise each week, I'll be fine here. I currently pay $40 monthly to the X-Sport 24/7 gym. I better get my money's worth here.
  4. Run 5K and 10K.
Running will complement my biking. Time spent for running takes away mileage for biking, else my biking goal would be higher. This running will be for Marathon training next year.
  5. Rejoin Coach Savage. Join a Running Club
I already encountered my former cross country and track coach during a bike run. I figure to join his running club this year. EDIT: Received word that Coach Savage no longer handles training for the Oakton Running Club. However, that is the group that I will join for the upcoming winter.
  6. Find good people and model off of them. ( Congregation)
Having been surrounded by poorly behaved people, I search for good people to model off of. In doing so, I correct my personality.
  7. Complete Medical Billing Certificate. Coursework for Medical Billing Certificate.
While already registered at Oakton Community College, class registration is underway. Once in the fall, class will commence. I look forward to that.
  8. Different work environment. ( Prospects)
Either finding a second job or a new job. I need a different work environment. The current job environment pays enough for my need as well as keeps me insured medically. However, it never felt like a "real" job.
  9. Increase telephone use. ( Minutes)
Basically have to spend my minutes - but also - I need to converse as much as possible. In doing so, I will train on listening. However, gotta find people to call regularly. So far, my older sister easily fits with that.
  10. Raise Intelligence, or at least maintain it.
Study. Study. Study. Attend the library once a week. Take notes and follow through with the subject plan. EDIT: It seems weekly attendance at the library is unreasonable, in comparision to regular church attendance. Therefore, whenever I do go to the library, I shall read and take notes on the books I have read - in similar fashion to religious related reading. In other words, my independent study will mimic the pattern from my ongoing religious study.
  11. Organize Music archive
Files under my music folder contained unsorted MP3 files. I need to sort them.
  12. Apply Greater Kyuu Project.
Other Greater Kyuu Project items not repeated in this list still apply. They're not listed as they are longer range (greater than 1 year).
  13. Doctor and Dental visit.
Despite having been insured the past couple years, I had not taken advantage of it. Especially as I made myself more physically active, it would be wise to do so.
  14. Balance out A4.
I've spent WAY too much time in there. Main reason for being in there this whole time are all the personalities I've encountered over the years. However, better bring that kind of meeting mentality into the real world.
  15. Improved Body Coordination. ( Morning workout)
DDR is definitely not enough. Plus, despite a setback earlier this year - when my Tai-chi class from the Morton Grove Park District was disappointingly canceled, I still want to learn some form of Tai-chi. The coordination applied will greatly complement the strength developed from my workouts. Thankfully, the City of Chicago is providing some FREE workout sessions on Saturday mornings during the summer. It includes activities like Tai-chi and Pilates.
  16. Knitting Class.
From this race, a coupon for a knitting class was included. Tacked to my wall, I won't forget it. So, might as well use it. XD
  17. Learn Roller-Blading. ( Progess 1) ( Pain)
I hope to at least be able to go around Harrer Park's half-mile loops without falling. Eventually, maybe even be able to do it for "real".
  18. Improve relations with my mother. (Added Jul 18, 2008)
While I can still talk to my mother, I admit to not treating her very well. Yet, unfortunate, I have some times when I simply could not; for certain ideas need to get into her head. The Filipino tendency to lie, especially among older generations, is prevalent. Nevertheless, the fourth Commandment still applies. NOTE: I do not mention my father; for his failure over the years has been massive. Currently, he is still not approachable. Maybe someday.
  19. Play and complete my games. (Added Jul 18, 2008) ( Mario Galaxy)
I bought these games beforehand. I ought to play them to completion. After the games are completed, I can ignore them or replay them. Whatever. Yet, this is definitely not a priority item.
  20. Improve Living Conditions (Added Aug 1, 2008)
Added in lieu of Moving Out. I already have a sense of autonomy within the household. However, the state of the room I live in - is - very poor as far as feng shui is concerned. If I make an investment to have the room reorganized, I can change the mood in my own room. Later on when I actually do Move Out, I will have the option to bring these things (desks, shelving, etc.) - or - simply abandon them.

Items completed or meeting Satisfactory requirements go here:
  1. Attend church regularly.
Not necessarily a requirement for every single week, but a regular frequency of church attendance. In addition to the regular Sunday schedule, some sermons are included for summer Thursday nights. I plan to attend those too.
  2. Ascend into Confirmation.
Already an on-going process. My belonging to the church is incomplete without Communion, which I cannot receive at this time.
  3. Build sister's computer. (Added Jul 18, 2008)
Due to my failure from last time, this project still remains incomplete. Since I promised to complete it, I shall do so.
  4. Bike 600 miles for the season. ( Progress Midpoint)
Biking season started back in April. At this point, already mark at 150 miles.
  5. Lift my own weight (150 lbs+).
At this point, I can only lift 60% of my weight (100-110 lbs). This means, I cannot even do a pull-up anymore. That's rather embarrassing.
  6. Vegas Trip over Christmas.
Yup. I plan to visit my older sister in Vegas over Christmas this year. Simultaneously, I give Wildstar and Ambie an opportunity to see me during this year. This is assuming arrangements work out as pre-planned.
  7. Fundamental Rule review. ( List)
They are my own codes. It would be foolish for me to forget about them. EDIT: Noted in the List, the rules will be reviewed upon in correspondence with Scripture.

Stricken. Canceled items go here:
  1. Move out ( Factoring options)
While aspiration to leave the house remains, I find myself rather hesitant. It is a money issue after all. For my own good, I will have to; especially within this year. Stricken (Aug 1, 2008) Reason: Instead of moving out, I have an alternative. Conditions at home require my further presence. See Improve Living Conditions
  2. Meditation.
Regular meditation sessions. While I had not been attending the Zen training center regularly, I still have to maintain regular Zen meditation practice. Stricken (Aug 6, 2008) Reason: Active practice of Zen meditation not occurring. My attendance to church is sufficient. Once in a while, I may practice Zen on my own.
