Thanks to my cousin. I did this race. Just a 5K run near the Museum Campus up and down part of the Lakefront path. I finished in 26 minutes 09 seconds. Not bad.
Faster than last time.
While finishing a run has always left me in a good mood, I do have the feeling that I could have run better. After all, I wasn't tired nor feeling sore in the legs. I was doing well in my first mile; but once I saw the marker for the next mile, I mentally fell off a bit - thinking that I wouldn't last at my initial pace or that I had a long ways to go. Even let a few people pass me up too. That wasn't too encouraging. So, I slowed down. Eh, at least, my kick in the last half-mile was pretty good.
After all, the run was for the benefit of women's safety in Chicagoland. That was pretty nice in of itself. So, regardless, at the end of the day and into the next, I was in a good mood for having done the run. Looking at the
CARA website, I'm looking at the next one. Don't know which one yet.
Until then, keep on training.
